I'm just asking what is a solid down payment. I wouldn't pay for something I can't afford.
Question isn't that simple. Solid down payment depends on your savings level after you write the check, your monthly take-home pay, and how much payment you're taking on. Many variables. If you're about a good down payment, I'd prefer to put money down on a home if you don't already have one. Keep this purchase in perspective as it'll follow you around ($400/month for a few years) and your goals may change in the near future (home ownership). Again, I'd recommend staying as liquid as possible so you can pile up cash for purchases that will be better long term investments.

Well, how much can you afford to put down (cash do you have saved), and how much do you make a year?
Just saying, that's is an expensive arse car for a 22 year old to finance. Consider looking at used cars about 3 years old you can get for 15k. Not knowing anything about your financial situation (but seeing you have a kiddo), I'd say keep your monthly income as liquid as possible (keeping your monthly payment liability as small as you can). You can get a really nice used car for 15k that will get you and the kid around just fine.
Just my 2 cents.

Why are you investing with your girlfriend? Whose money is it?

Went to Cafe Phoenica last night and it was very good. Can't get tired of good Greek food.
Had the Jambalaya place next door to it for lunch today and wasn't as impressed. Pretty run of the mill.
Might go back to CP tonight or try VooDooBBQ or one of the Asian places in that shopping strip. Thanks again for the recs!

Yeah yeah I know. But really the OP is the only arse for making a thread looking for something he can google and NOT COMING BACK!
I can't even describe how mad it makes me when someone starts a thread that sparks good conversation and never returns!
Sorry, been traveling and just now arrived in DS. Thanks for the recs/lively discussion. I'll probably venture into BR for at least 2 of my meals and will use this thread for the others when I'm going to be in DS.

re: Renting an apartment w/o a lease?
Posted by aupsh on 1/25/11 at 4:01 pm
There is zero advantage for you to not have a lease, especially if, like you said, this guy was cool with you breaking the lease with a month's notice. The lease is in place to protect both the landlord AND the tenant. No question.
