Randy Ross, who was Alabama's recruiting coordinator under head coach Gene Stallings now serves as the director of football operations at Southern Methodist University, recalls in a Tuscaloosa News story this morning that President Bill Clinton was running late for the team's ceremony and Stallings was impatient.
The team was due back to Tuscaloosa for an Alabama High School Hall of Fame ceremony that night and Stallings was not about to miss the induction, Ross told the Tuscaoosa News.
At one point, Stallings called over a Clinton assistant and said, "'I'm fixing to put these players back on the bus. I've got a schedule to keep,' and she knew he meant it," Ross remembered. "Well, that girl went running through the Rose Garden in high heels, and the president came out in about two seconds."
