He should take it, if he shores up the Dawg D he'll be in prime position to get a pretty decent HC gig.

I guess anything is possible, but I don't think we'll match it. It would make him the third highest paid assistant in the country.

I hate to see him go if he decides to take it, but he has to do what is best for he and his family. Even if it is a lateral move, it will be his defense at Georgia instead of here it will always be Saban's defense. He can show what he can do and then from there get a HC job possibly. That being said, I really like him and hope he stays on at Bama though.

I seriously doubt we counter it either. Didn't he and Richt have somewhat of a falling out a while back though? Wonder how that will affect the dynamics on the coaching staff if he does go.

Exactly. Georgia will probably be the best move for him from a career standpoint.

I seriously doubt we match an offer like that. The salary dynamics at Alabama are set to even scales. Saban pays DC Smart the exact same amount as OC McElwain.

It's gonna be interesting to see who we get if he goes. And what Willis does. If Sunseri moves up and Willis is given more to handle and more money, will he stay rather than go to TT?

No. It was Willie and the former Def staff that Kirby had a problem with.

Since Willis is likely to leave as well, Sal Sunseri has to be the favorite as of this moment. Apparently, Jimbo was giving him a hard look before hiring Stoops.

Agreed. I think he brings Travis Jones with him to the Classic City

My sentiments too. Would like to stay intact for another season. But gotta do what's best for family. There's nothing I wouldn't do or nowhere I wouldn't go to make things better for a family.

On the other hand. Bringing in a new coach or two might help keep the team hungry going into next season and provide a spark to keep them fired up for a run at another Championship. Sounds good at least.. lol

hearing that Tubs is keeping Ruffin so I don't think he would grab Willis.

I'd like to keep Willis. Dang good coach. And how cool would it be if he was the first Auburn fella to win 2 NC's!And both at Bama!

Why save Richt's job? If he waits a year, they may be calling him about the HC position.

BamaBeat

"Alabama appears to not be letting defensive coordinator Kirby Smart go to Georgia without a fight.

As reported yesterday, the Bulldogs have offered Smart the same title at UGA and could be willing to more than double the roughly $360,000 base salary the Broyles Award winner made this past season at Alabama.

Smart, a UGA graduate, is still thought to be mulling the offer at this point.

ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach is reporting this afternoon that UA officials have told Smart they would "do everything necessary to keep him."

So whether he stays or goes, one can assume that Smart will make a whole lot more money in 2010."

I actually think Kirby Smart will improve his chances at getting the Georgia job if he goes there. Georgia will either select Will Muschamp or a young up and coming head coach if Richt gets fired.
