Name me an older coach who's had great success another school after the gig he's most well known for.

Holtz? Spurrier? Butch Davis? Rich Rod?

Point being schools want to hire the next young hotshot, not recycled old coaches.

I thought Lubbock to be geared more towards deer hunting than duck hunting.

It's more like Jackalope hunting way out there.

yeah, I came this close to including him as an exception in my post, but I'd argue he's better known for his post-LSU career than his pre-Dolphins career.

I've heard he's interested in Tech, but Tech isn't interested in him

I wanted Tuberville when he left Auburn. I think Tech should definitely want him.

I hope he takes it just to watch TT's reaction to Tubershell.

I never understood the hate for Tubby from the Auburn fans. He had 1 bad year. It happens.

I think Tubs is a hell of a coach and will do well where ever he goes. I think Saban blindsided him with an unmatched work ethic in recruiting and Tubs got a little complacent.

I always thought Tubs wanted to win a national championship......

Which basically means going to a school that is #1 (i.e. the flagship) in its state....

Except for Clemson (once) and FSU, has any other "second" or "third" school in a state won a national championship (I don't really count Georgia Tech's "shared" championship in '84) in recent decades?

I'm saying Tommy T would do good. If that came out wrong.

Oh, i didn't mean that directed at you. I was talking about Auburn fans in general. When Tubby was fired, most of y'all were pretty happy.

He coasted for 4. I think tubby's better coaching days are behind him. Other Aubies may differ, but we needed to make a change. Besides, Lubbock is in the middle of nowhere.

I think its hard to generalize how the AU fanbase felt about Tubb's departure. Hell, we don't even know what happened for sure.
