Per Trey Biddy. Consider The source.
Anybody else think this is a mistake?

Absolutely a mistake... As good as he is, he's not ready yet IMO.

No, rookie salary cap is about to be put into effect, this is smart financial wise.

Not considering he is gonna be really good and they are putting some kind of signing bonus cap next year

I agree. Needs more experience and another year would be great for him to work on his footwork and accuracy.

He is not ready at all. He is one of the most inaccurate QB's under pressure I have seen. He's too inconsistent. It will take him a while. If he gets frustrated and fans get impatient, he'll be a bust. But, it's a smart business move because his stock is high.

Junior QBs going pro have a pretty terrible track record, but he's going to make a frickton of money so I can;t blame him

He can still do that with a pro team and be getting paid megabucks to do it - unlike Sam Bradford.

Probably has to do it with the impending salary cap... but any other year it would probably be a big mistake not to get another year of experience

This.
He has all of the raw tools. He can be refined in the Pro's.
Look for someone to do what the Giant's did when they drafted Eli. Some team will pick up an old veteran QB(i.e. Giants picking up Kurt Warner) and put Mallett under his wings for a year or two.
If Snead would have done anything other than fall on his face this year, he would be gone as well.

Who ever is telling this kid to go pro needs to be taking to the wood shed. You only go pro EARLY if you are goin to be a top 10 pick or your a retard like Quincy Carter
