Auburn 7-5

Started the season 5-0
Finished 2-5

After all was said and done were only a few plays from being 10-2...(I say this because I think we should have beaten UK, UGA and Bama)

Ended the year by playing our best game against our biggest rival and toughest opponent of the...

Will finish at the Outback Bowl...

All of this with a first year staff, not much depth at all and a team that is undermanned...how would you guys rate this season in terms of it being successful?

a success considering the lack of depth... Chiz needs to haul in the recruits before judgement can be passed...

I said all along that AU would have a decent season. I think 7-5 considering the circumstances is a success.

I wouldn't say you "should have beaten Bama" though. You played about as good a game as you could have and lost.

Those two things should be used when formulating an accounting of this season.

Auburn showed that they have the ability to grab leads, they just need some defensive depth to hold onto them.

This was a successful season for us. Times like this, you have to take the long view on things because you aren't competing for national titles with this kind of depth.

The fact that they played like they did against bammer shows that they are ahead of schedule on going toe to toe with them.

Next season, we should win that game by two touchdowns.

Season was a success...pay no heed to alabama fans rehtoric. While this season was only 2 games better than last it was a breath of fresh air seeing an offense that, at times, was clicking. Tough watching games slip away but that will change with time, one can hope. Hopefully bring in a good, and full class next year. Lots of reasons to be proud of the team.

Remember, the weather can't always be fair.

It is a good foundation to build from. As Dye said, next year should be a lot like this one, so getting a NYD bowl this year may be the high point for the next 18 months.

If we can hold this recruiting class together and get another good one in Feb of 2011 Auburn could quite possibly be competing for the west in '11, '12 and '13.

Very good year and took bammer to the wire... Any reason to think the D will be better next year?

I'd say it was a pretty good season.

The UK loss was bad.

The Ole Miss win made up for it.

Overall better than expected with a new staff and lack of depth.

I thought before the season Auburn would go 6-6, the Ole Miss game was the extra win I didn't see coming. Of course, Ole Miss was a rather large disappointment this year. Overall, I think 7-5 was right in the range of what a lot of people predicted. You can't exactly look at the Outback Bowl berth as a milestone of how the season went, seeing how Auburn is still a 7-5 team and that rarely gets you to the Outback. It just so happens that everybody in the SEC is 7-5 this year.

They beat Tennessee and they beat Ole Miss. Why should 7-5 not be considered 7-5? Ole Miss played two 1AA teams to get 8 wins and nobody is asking them anything on their way to the Cotton Bowl.

I know you bammers don't like to include an entire season when evaluating a team, but they all count, not just the first 12 or the last 1......

I hope you do. Post it on your bulletin board if you wish......we played 3 linebackers and held you guys to 73 yards rushing. We had a two touchdown lead on you and the only thing preventing victory was depth. That won't be a problem next year.
