Tech CB suspended
The Western Athletic Conference has suspended Louisiana Tech cornerback Chad Boyd for the first half of the Bulldogs game at Fresno State for a helmet-to-helmet hit on LSU wide receiver Terrance Toliver last week.
The foul was deemed a flagrant foul by the WAC office, although the hit was not flagged by the SEC officiating crew at the game.
Miles said Wednesday he submitted the non-call, among several other plays, to the SEC office for a review, which is common procedure after every game.
“We saw the hit, and I turned it in with the idea that it was helmet-to-helmet and I thought it needed to be reviewed,” Miles said.
“It’s nice to see the review process works.”
Tech coach and Athletic Director Derek Dooley didn’t agree with the ruling.
“I am disappointed in the decision and have voiced my respectful disagreement on the rule interpretation and penalty enforcement to the commissioner,” Dooley said in a statement released by Tech. “In the end, the decision is out of our control and our focus is entirely on the challenge that awaits us at Fresno State.”
WAC Commissioner Karl Benson also issued a statement, saying: “A flagrant personal foul should have been called by the game officials, and Boyd should have been ejected from the game at that time.
“By NCAA rules, I am required to review these types of situations, and it was determined that the player clearly committed a flagrant foul, and thus will be suspended.”
Toliver needed medical attention and was wobbly as he left the field. He later returned to the game and has practiced all week.

Sounds about right, since the SEC office is for the most part an apologist organization for the SEC refs.
