What coach doesn't? If Bama goes 2 loses again or even worse, one loss and no SEC Championship Game appearance what will it mean for Bama fans? I suspect a pretty empty feeling.

What would it mean to fans of any team that gets very close and the it falls through?

he wants one so he can say "I told you idiots that I knew what I was talking about, and you didn't", then he'll split to the next challenge...

At least lsu fans realize their only hope is to pray that Saban leaves Alabama.

The guy is 59, do you really think he wants to start all over again. Cowboys maybe but I don't see it.

I agree, I don't think there will be any drop off in defense next year. I think next years team will actually be better than the team is now.

the challenge is what motivates him...and yes, I think he'll start over several more times, he'd be miserable in retirement. Terri would probably be miserable in his retirement as well...

This. When he was hired everybody was saying his fourth year would be the year, maybe the third if things fall perfectly. But who knew in his second year he'd start out 12-0 and be ten minutes away from playing for a NC and the next year he'd be 8-0 and ranked #2? I sure didn't see it coming so quickly.

Bama has Saban as long as they want him, he's burned all the NFL bridges and what better gig can he get in CF: USC? ND? Ohio St.? Uh-uh. And I don't think he's gonna skip to yet a third SEC school. So he stays at Bama. The only question over the next 5-6 years is whether he wins a NC or becomes Mark Richt II.

Actually Mark Richt isn't Mark Richt part I. First you had Phil Fulmer and Tubby, Richt is actually part III.

Penn State is probably the one that would most appeal to him...

Thank you for reminding me. I totally forgot about Damien Square. He'll be back with Hightower. He was playing lights out before he got injured. Thanks dude.

That Alabama job is going to break Saban pretty soon if he doesn't get out. I still think he's taking Penn State when Paterno is gone.

He loses it too often with the media over simple silly questions asked by kids right out of college. He's a good field coach but he's in over his head as the overall total package of a successfull headcoach.

You left out the part of the article where Saban blames the Bama fans for the team's poor attitude and Sexton is quoted as saying Saban is not interested in the Penn State job.

I hear this all the time, and I just don't get it. Yes, he is from W.Virginia and that is close to Pennsylvania. But, his down time is spent at Lake Burton in Georgia. (I assume I don't have to tell you what state is close to Georgia)

Another thing that people mention is that he is in "Bear Bryants shadow". There was 25 years separating Coach Bryant and Coach Saban, and those years included a lot of turmoil. During those 25 years, a lot of things changed Alabama fans outlook. That will not be the same at Penn State. Their "Bryant" would be 1 year removed, and his shadow would be more harsh. Coach Saban would not want to be the Penn State equivalent of Ray Perkins.

At the end of the day, Alabama will match any amount of money that any other school sets out. They have and will continue to give him complete autonomy in relation to football. He is 59 years old, and he has stated on numerous occasions that this is his last stop. He has also mentioned that had the NFL thing not intrigued him, he would never have left LSU..I guess that is what makes LSU fans frustrated. I get that, and would feel the same way.
