"We may not win every game we play at Alabama; nobody ever said we would," Saban said in a brief press conference prior to speaking at a meeting of the Cellular South 1st and 10 Club at Heron Lakes Country Club. "But we've probably already won a helluva lot more than anybody thought we would already, and we're going to focus on what we need to do to get better as a team, and come out with guns a blazin' and be positive about the last four games that we have this year and do the best we can as a team. And we'll see if we're good enough or not."
"I told the guys after practice today, 'Look guys, you've done a nice job, you've worked hard, you've made some improvements as a team,'" Saban said. "We appreciate the effort. Now get some time off and get rested a little bit.
"But what do you want to accomplish? And what do you want to do? I mean, we want to come back and play our best football when we come back off this break."
Saban said he isn't concerned about the close call against Tennessee last weekend or the way his offense has sputtered in recent games, preferring instead to look at the positives of the 12-10 win over the Volunteers that Terrence Cody saved by blocking a last-second field goal.
"We gave them an opportunity to kick a field goal," Saban said. "But they didn't make the field goal, we blocked it. And our players made the play in the game to win the game and, you know, it's a little bit disconcerting to me that we've won 20 out of our last 22 games and people ask me questions like you're asking, like it's going to be the end of the world."

I think he is getting sick of nothing at Alabama less than a championship being good enough. We are going to keep on until we run his arse off.

He'll be seeing things the Bama way soon. The NC's will be pouring in.

It's bound to happen sooner or later. But cmon, would you want it any other way?

Something tells me Saban wants those championships too.

I'll give you they have a good shot this year, but at least half that defense is gone next year.

He is just putting some desk jockey in his place.

Yeah, defense will be down next year. We may win 8 or 9 in the regular season. But we do have some talent that will fill those spots. Once they get playing time they should be good. 2011 we should have a very good defense again.

I hope I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling about this game..... It has nothing to do with his quotes and everything to do with matchups. I'm not as optimistic as most LSU fans about our defense holding 'Bama below say, 24. On the other hand, without turnovers or special teams help I don't see our offense scoring more than 10.

Bama is way over rated!
Of course we are. We suck. Not even a top 30 team.

Saban will have a good defense next year too. I think they will be fine in the areas that lose the most (DL and Secondary).

Chapman, Dareus, Davis on the front line...
Johnson, Hightower, Harris, Upshaw/Patrick on the second line...
Barron and Green at Safeties.
Possibly Grant, Jackson, Kirkpatrick, Milliner as DBs. But maybe the Juco guy in one spot.
I feel damned good about our defense next season.

We'll have a top 15 defense next year and should be pretty good on offense again. I think we'll have a shot at another 10 win season, maybe more with some breaks.

Who'll be the pre-season favorite in the West? LSU loses some key personnel. Ole Miss gets nailed by graduation....... The west may be down next year.

Keep in mind that Saban was able to redshirt almost the entire DL class and Square was getting in the 2 deep before he got hurt.

I'll let you know next Saturday night.
( I actually think Bama, since we'll be returning our backfield and all our skill players on offense )

What coach doesn't? If Bama goes 2 loses again or even worse, one loss and no SEC Championship Game appearance what will it mean for Bama fans? I suspect a pretty empty feeling.

Going from Shula's 12 wins in two years to 24 wins in two years won't be the death of things. There would be some disappointment if we ran the regular season again and that happened, sure. But back to back seasons like that are a helluva an accomplishment. One that not many teams have accomplished.
