I have to agree with his questioning Kiffin's going for it on his own 29. Yeah, it worked, got the first down, but that is a play just asking for trouble.

The backup QB is always the most popular guy on the team.

Have you seen Crompton play, I'd blame him. As for the wardrobe change, just last week I went from leather to silk thongs because of the rain.

I think he is blaming both of them to be honest. He is blaming Crompton for not being able to produce, but at the same time blaming Kiffin for leaving Crompton in as qb.

I don't know why he is so sure UT will be worse next year - there are a lot of talented young kids on this team - Brown, Richardson, Oku, etc. - and they will only get better with a full season and a spring practice under their belt.

To be honest, I feel bad for Crompton. I know how Auburn treated Brandon Cox his senior season. We boo'd him, chanted for Kodi Burns, lit up the message boards talking about how he sucked. These kids have to go to class so they hear shite from kids on campus and get nasty things posted on their Facebook and MySpace, it has to have an impact on their self confidence. I saw flashes from Crompton Saturday that shows he can throw the ball and throw it well, especially in a 2 minute drill. I think though that playing in Neyland when he gets boo'd for every incomplete pass it will keep undermining him. What I think he really needs (and unfortunately doesn't have) is a road game in the next two weeks against a team where there is a legit chance of it being a close game (the trip to Bama won't be close at all). If he could play a competitive game where he wasn't being boo'd or heckled after every bad play, maybe he woudl get some of that confidence back.

I said it earlier, but it bears repeating, Jonathan Crompton has won a single SEC game when he completes a pass -- Kentucky. (He also "beat" Vanderbilt as the starter last year, but his only pass, the first of the game, was intercepted.) In fact, Kentucky is the only team from a major conference that Crompton has beaten in his career.

He is blaming Kiffin mostly. The article is basically outlining Crompton's shitty play and complete ineptitude to illustrate how bad a decision it is to leave him in the game. In essence, he is questioning the quality of his coaching decisions by the play of his QB and the team to this point in the season.

He makes some very good points, especially considering how well Auburn is doing offensively.

What the hell can Crompton do when he has shitty WR's that can't hold on the a ball when he throws it? He threw quit a few really good passes that were dropped by his receivers. It's a team sport and Crompton is not the only problem with that offense.

+1 how many balls did his receivers drop? Crompton sucks arse but he can shoulder all the blame. Hell, the most telling was when he hit the damn receiver in the head and the receiver looked at Crompton like "what the hell?"

very true. Our receivers haven't helped him much, and definitely didn't Saturday. There have been games this year where they just don't create any space, and games where they drop passes. Saturday was a good mix of both. I saw crossing pattern after crossing pattern run by them, and the ball was consistently behind them. It got to be a thing of confidence Saturday. After the incomplete passes the WR's were immediately dropping their heads, or taking forever to even get up. It's like they have no confidence in him from the moment he tells the play in the huddle.

I never said it was all JC's fault. Look back at my post from yesterday regarding the game - I said he wasn't always to blame, that the receivers had balls in their hands they dropped.

That being said, when you have a lot of incompletions, where does the finger get pointed most often? At the qb. People are going to badmouth Crompton be it all his fault or not, and trust me, that isn't going to do anything for his confidence or make him complete more passes.

At least Crompton keeps the ball inbounds now, something he couldn't do much last year.
