There is a recent trend that suggests a shift in power from East to West superiority.

It's stronger than the East for sure, but it's not as strong as it has been. Helps that Auburn is better. East sucks this year other than UF.

LSU was a minute away from losing to Georgia.
South Carolina beat Ole Miss.
Florida is still arguably better than Alabama.
This Tennessee/Auburn game is still in doubt.
The SECW is not THAT much better than the SECE as some suggested at the beginning of the season.

Florida is still arguably better than Alabama. Alabama is arguably better than UF. See how that works?
This Tennessee/Auburn game is still in doubt. - Um, no!
The SECW is not THAT much better than the SECE as some suggested at the beginning of the season. - agreed but the East was never "that much greater" than the west subjectively

1.) West leads head to head since 12 team league
2.) West leads head to head all-time
3.) West has more NCs
4.) West has more SECs
5.) West has 83% of its teams in the top 31 All-Time Programs.
A question was once asked....."If I'm the worst team in each division over the last decade, let's say MSU and Vandy, who would I prefer to play every year?
MSU: Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas.
Vandy: Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia.
The answer was "Just looking at that I think I would prefer to be MSU in the west."
Well look at the results.........
Since the SEC expansion in 92.......
MSU vs West....25-54-1 or 32%
MSU vs East....22-27-0 or 45%
Van vs West.....7-41-0 or 14%
Van vs East....12-68-0 or 15%
In both cases, the West was tougher.
The West is CURRENTLY AND the ALL-TIME Best Division in College Football and the FACTS backs that statement.
