AUBURN -- Ben Tate can walk into the locker room these days without worry.

Verbal attacks are a thing of the past.

Auburn players formally reported to campus Tuesday, which signaled the first step of Auburn's preseason preparations. Fall camp begins this afternoon, but veteran players already have gained a feel for what to expect this season.

They sense a harmony that didn't exist nine months ago.

"It's natural when things go badly for people to get violent and start pointing fingers at one another. That's one of the things we did," said Tate, the Tigers' top tailback. "Now if something goes wrong, we have to stay together. The coaches have put a lot of emphasis on getting together no matter what."

clearly it was time for CTT to go... he lost the desire or the will and thought he could coast...

So true, I know that I personally can't help beating my wife and kids when things go badly.

What an idiot.

No, it was the coaching staff in this case.

Well I personally find it impossible to believe that Tuber fostered that sort of atmosphere at AU. I doubt any major college coach does. So this guy making it seem like TT was cool with that sorta thing is beyond stupid.

Well I'm friends with Bart eddins, OLineman from Auburn and he said that last year, Tubby wouldnt even really be around during practices, he would either just stay up in his office, or ride around occassionally on his golf cart to check things out. So maybe tubs didnt foster that kind of atmosphere, but he probably didnt know what was going on most the time.

Have you even watched an AUBURN football game recently or watched their recruiting? Tuberville's time had come and gone...

Unfortunatly, You might can say that about a lot of college players, but not Ben Tate. One of the smartest and well spoken kids on the AU team and from a great family in Maryland. As for last year. The team was coming apart at the seams mainly because of the animosity within the coaching staff. Whether is was a dumb move to fire tubs, a change needed to be made. Now that everyone is on the same page, let's see what happens.

Tate is not saying that TT was cool with it or that he encouraged it. From what I have heard from players, there was a huge amount of finger pointing and blame, mostly focused on the offense. There were some fights between players mainly out of frustration. I think it's instructive that this went on and Tuberville apparently did nothing to stop it.

Do you really want to associate a player name with something that sounds so totally illogical?

what you saw last season was collectively the worst AU team in 20 years.... CTT didnt ahve control of his staff nor the players... it was quite apparent he didnt give a #$%^ !!!

+1, heard this from several players last year. The player I spoke to said that he would not see coach on the practice field until Thursday before gameday.
