I know Arkansas has Wal Mart and Tyson chicken. It would be tough for any other school to beat that combination

Vanderbilt has a booster with more money than the Walton family? I dont think so

I know i am biased, but Wal-Mart, Tyson, and JB Hunt...hard to beat those giants

I saw Forbes Magazine's list of the wealthiest 400 people in the United States back in 2008. A person had to have a net worth of at least a billion dollars to make this list. Three or four members of the Walton faimly were in the top 10 of that list.
If I can find the link, I will post it.

Highest: Arkansas
Lowest: MSU, seriously they have the worst alumni ever who don't give anything back to the University.

Of course Vanderbilt's endowment is higher, it is privately funded.
Also, Vanderbilt had the fastest growing endowment in the country for the last few years because of the way the money was invested.

Here is Forbes ranking of the wealthiest people in the entire world. Three or four members of the Walton family are in the top 20.

I see what you are saying, but the endowment also depends on how the money is invested.

and Jerry Jones is also a billionaire.

not endowments, what school has most money to spend if needed, that's essentially the question.

Do you see the list I posted? There are 4 or 5 members of the Walton family who are worth 15 or 20 billion dollars apiece. That doesnt include Tyson chicken, Jerry Jones, or any other boosters Arkansas has

According to the 2009 list I saw from Forbes of the wealthiest Americans, 3 of the top 6 were Waltons and 4 of the top 7.
Keep in mind though, the Waltons give massive amounts to the education side not necessarily the athletic dept. Bud "Walton" Arena is nice though.
Then there is JB Hunt and the worlds largest chicken producer, Tyson, that have ties to the U of A.
The athletic budget is still modest though. The payoff comes from always having someone you can call if you want something out of the ordinary (See million dollar playing surface that fell from the sky overnight) or you get in some sort of bidding war for a coach.

ya, arkansas has the money, just not a billion dollar endowment...
why would we need a pile of money saved when we can just call our good buddies the waltons and tyson's?

do Waltons automatically graduate from Arky, with that much money I thik I could find a better school to attend. No offense intended Arky fans.
