Before saban, did LSU meen shite? After Hershal Walker, has UGA ment shite? Has Ole miss ever ment shite? You can do this with almost any team in the sec, so dont put it on florida.

yea you r clearly an idiot b4 Saban LSU was still a very good football team they were bad in the 90's. In the 80's they won the conference twice. All time there record is 701–383–47 (.641)
UGA has meant shite. Have they won a national championship no. However, they have challenged for the conference championship. They won the conference championship in 1981, 1982, 2002, 2005
Ole miss were pretty good last year and the Rebels have won three national championships (1959, 1960 and 1962), six Southeastern Conference titles (1947, 1954, 1955, 1960, 1962, and 1963), and one SEC Western Division title (2003 - Co-champions)
florida were never good without cheating until spurrier got there

I don't think they had a single conference championship before Spurrier. That should tell you something.

quote:No I was just saying some people say this for any team. Like some people say Alabama hasnt been shite since the Bear. I wouldnt say something like that about LSU if i ment it. And I knew UGA has been good since Walker. My point was that people say stuff like this for almost any sec team.

True, but I think Florida is a very unique rags-to-riches case. They went from literally nothing before Spurrier to becoming the most dominate SEC program after Spurrier...and have been ever since.

Had a nation championship by some publications... (Not exactly nothing)

Florida was strong during the 80s as well with several 9 win seasons. If memory serves me they beat the "champions" of 1983 Miami *cough*. Florida became a national power under spurrier but they were a strong team before.

Simply put, no, Florida was much of nothing before Spurrier. They were the Texas Tech of the SEC. Decent but never on top. Zero National OR SEC Titles before the 1990s.
It's not a slight against them, just the truth. Similar things have happened to many programs...
Miami - 3 Top 10 finishes, 0 NC before the reign of Schnellenberger/Johnson/Erickson/Davis/Coker starting in the 1980s to the Early 2000s. 15 Top 10 finishes, 5 NC during that short reign (by comparison). So they weren't much before them...and so far haven't been much after.
Ole Miss/Minnesota/Illinois/Maryland/Michigan State/Texas A & M - All mattered and were big time a long time back (varies from team to team) but recently have been middle of the pack at best teams or doormats.

We would have destroyed BYU had we gotten the chance to play them.

If Spurrier never comes to UF, they are a UK like program.

I think we were on the quickly on the rise in the 80's and Spurrier was the keystone so to speak. Everything was in place to be a contender except for that last piece.
