Pine Bluff native Courtney Crutchfield has been given a clean slate going into his third season of college ball. The hiring of former Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield has re-energized the former Top 50 recruit, taking his game to the next level during spring practice.

Crutchfield has all the tools needed to be a major contributor in the passing game, which is no surprise considering his production at the high school ranks and reputation as an explosive athlete.

"[Crutchfield], he's a guy who's earned my trust sitting here today, April 22 who I feel confident that if we had a game tonight, he would be in the top six receivers and on the field," Cramsey said. "I'd feel very confident him in there because he's a guy that actually stepped up in in some of the scrimmages, too."

Silverfield, Cramsey, and wide receivers coach Larry Smith were aware of Crutchfield prior to their arrival in late November having offered him a scholarship at Memphis. He was a dominant athlete across multiple sports which labeled him a can't miss prospect coming out of high school.

For fans, it's been a minute since a homegrown talent with high expectations turned out to be a stud on offense. Former Warren standout Treylon Burks arrived to Arkansas as an unstoppable force out wide, and ended his college career as a first round NFL Draft pick.

While no one is suggesting Crutchfield will follow the same path, the ball is now in his hands to make an impact for the Razorbacks in Year 1 under Silverfield.

Pine Bluff used to produce better players than him.

Until the population decline ruined the football program.

Are they not still a 7A school?

I know at one time they had like 25 state championships.

Correction...Pine Bluff won 24 state titles.

Little Rock Central won 31.

Pine Bluff was one of the largest school districts in the state back in the 90s.

Pine Bluff has the 2nd most state titles in Ark HS history behind Central.

Pine Bluff has 23
Central has 31

Both are not considered powerhouses any longer though.

If he will show up with a good attitude and go 100% every day he will play in the league.

He’s yet to do that….but could.

I believe Central has won more state titles than all high schools in the nation.

Well, she is actually a he and plays wide receiver.

I know genders can be confusing for UTrans fans. Perhaps you should go back through the Masculiut program. I am not sure you actually learned anything

He never showed enough to get on the field for Mizzou, but the ability is there. Now he'll probably go ape shite for 3 scores vs us.

I hope he can finally turn it on but... sometimes you have a ton of talent but due to injuries and other issues it just never clicks. I do think he will get a real shot to see what he can do.

Pine Bluff is decent and Central is just awful.
