Barring injury, I think Yonzae Pierre has 12 sacks on the year in 2026.

Thoughts?

Double digits for sure (barring injury). I believe he will be a top5 pass rusher in the SEC, potentially could play his way into the first round/early 2nd round Pick.

I’ve heard the coaches speak on it, and I would agree that this should a significantly improved pass rush.

CKW has done a tremendous job creating pressure/affecting the passer with 5 and 6 man pressures/blitzes and forcing turnovers. It will make things a lot easier on him as a play-caller/D.C. to finally have the luxury of generating pressure with just the Front-4.

I think Thompkins, Pierre and Justin Hill in particular will generate consistent pressure, with Pierre being a 1st Team All-SEC performer.

Going forward, I believe the staff has done a great job bringing in guys who can get to the QB: X Griffin, Nolan Wilson, London Simmons, Justin Hill and Jamarion Matthews in particular. The future on defense is bright imo.

Do you think Alabama puts Xavier Griffin at a primarily hand-down backer position or try to force this progression into a stand up backer who mostly rushes through the interior gaps?

Everything I’ve seen about him suggests he’s got elite pass rush potential but he’s just small.

Edit: forgot to add a prediction.

I think Pierre has 12 sacks in the regular season. If we play enough postseason games, he could get to 15+.

He won't get over 10 because he will be roaming around the line and dropping in coverage some times.

Off-ball LB all the way. He’s up to 223lbs after coming in at just 203 back in January. He can easily hold 10-12 more lbs by the end of the Summet. He is a better (faster and more physical) version of Jihad Cambell imo. I think he will contribute a ton as a TF just like the 9 TF inside LB’s who started under CNS. He is a very special talent.

He had 3 in just 34 snaps vs UT last year. I think 10 is the floor not the ceiling imo

10.5

He's going to draw a ton of pass pro rolled to his side.

He’ll probably get half of his sacks against OOC and the one or two conference opponents that aren’t schematically or athletically setup to do a lot of adjustments on the OL.

Georgia, LSU, Indiana, UT, USc, and OU couldn’t handle him. He didn’t see regular playing time until Russaw went down, and then had to split time with him once he returned from injury despite wracking up 6.5 sacks in the previous 5 games, and 8 total while playing just 56% of the total snaps for the season.

Despite starting the season behind Russaw and then rotating with him after Russaw returned from injury, Pierre still led the team with 14.5 TFL’s for loss and eight sacks (-81 yards) ... also added a team-leading nine quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles

He also had 1.5 sacks (should’ve been 2.5) vs Indiana, 2 vs LSU, 1vs UGA, 3 vs UT, and 1 vs OU….notice that all those games were after SEC play began, and also look at the quality of the opponents. He certainly did not pad his stats against “small non-conference opponents and 3 weaker SEC teams”.

Your comment is the result of you either not watching the games or being completely oblivious to what is taking place. Indiana, just like UT and LSU, had to leave an end-line TE in at all times to give the tackle help, and he still posted multiple sacks in all 3 of those games.

Bama fans are fortunate the staff played Russaw ahead of him to start the season and especially by (foolishly) deciding to play him on a rotational basis once Russaw returned from injury. Otherwise, Pierre would be headed to the Draft instead of playing one more season here.

I cannot determine if your post is a troll attempt, and I’m taking the bait, or if you are actually being serious.

Unless he gets hurt he'll get 10. He's good enough to get a lot but not Will Anderson level where teams will scheme against him ridiculously.

I’m not trolling. That is usually how it goes for most great rushers. I’m saying that he is going to be higher than 10 because he will eat against overmatched opponents even if the better opponents build most of their gameplan around stopping him. The “half” talk is hand wavy.

Okay, I can understand that and it’s a fair assessment. My only retort/evidence to the contrary was the desperate measures both UT and LSU took to try and slow him down. Then of course, Indiana and their elite OL had to keep an in-line TE or a RB (or both) to double or at least chip him to give the Tackle a chance and be still had 1.5 sacks and should’ve had a third (2.5)

I think 12 is a reasonable number. Better enjoy him while he’s here. Unless he gets injured, he’s going 1st round

Any other person who steps up on the other side is going to have a target rich environment with the attention he garners.
