Has this ever happened before? A player left for a rival and then went back? NIL portal era is crazy times.
*Disclaimer hes a senior but applied for a waiver for another year cause he only played like 40 minutes freshman year.

No different than some guy going back and forth between the Red Sox and Yankees at this point.

Of course Golden wants him back. Aberdeen is a very good college bball player but we all knew he wasn't worth the 2.5 mil or w/e Kentucky paid him. Good but not a star worth several mil. Proved it this year.
Back to being a really solid player for 1 mil. Golden will take that all day.

Pretty sure Meechie Johnson did it a couple of times in the same four year span.
Good luck on getting that 5th year on the basis that he only played a game his freshman year though.

Walker Howard went from LSU to Ole Miss to UL Lafayette back to Ole Miss. A little different though because Aberdeen is actually good.

Would have loved him to come back last year. Bad time to apply for an extra year though.

I literally have no clue what is allowed or not now in college sports.

This is so stupid, but with the new rule by Trump don't you have 5 years of eligibility?

All the Disney Gators who bashed the hell out of Zel when he went to KY look stupid now
I wasn’t happy with his decision to leave but appreciated what he did for us in the natty run and respected his decision.

I’m not a Disney Gator, but I bashed the hell out of him and still feel the same way. We could have possibly made a final 4 with him this season or maybe better.

But would Zel and Lee lead us to a final 4? Probably not, nor would be have beaten Michigan had we made it that far, which I doubt we would’ve. We got boogie to replace Zel, and we would not have had Zel boogie and Lee together this year.
Now we have Zel and Boogie. Hopefully we can add another elite shooting guard and get real dangerous as I think even our cheap boosters realize it’s worth ponying up for an elite roster (seeing Michigan) knowing that we have an elite coach in golden

Yeah it’s hard to argue “what if” scenarios, but I am never going to be ok with a player transferring to a rival. I don’t care what the circumstances are.

Frankly, with all the drama and turmoil in the locker room, most of which was supposedly between Oweh and Aberdeen, I kinda wish he'd just stayed at Florida to begin with. Our season was dog shite. Not saying that was his fault....it wasn't. By the end of the season he was one of the reliable options we actually had with this sorry arse group. But perhaps some of the the chemistry issues we had most of the year would have been alleviated. To be clear, I'm not blaming our season on Aberdeen. We had A LOT of different problems. Just saying, him in the locker room was one of them, and frankly if he wants to be back at Florida anyway, wth, just stay there from the get to. Gator fans clearly wanted him to stay, and we did nothing but look like shite all year regardless. Never made sense. But our issues are numerous.

Why?
Dude was a traitor. For money or not, he went to a rival school for basketball, of all places. I don't think we would have had near the animosity toward him had he not gone to our BIGGEST frickING RIVAL in basketball.
This tells me you're not a true gator fan.
Now that he's coming back, I have mixed emotions on it. It seems a little disingenuous of him after leaving for A frickING RIVAL, but as long as Golden is good with it and it doesn't effect the team, I am good with it.

I don't remember him getting bashed, even by the Disney gators.
We were all disappointed but also knew the NIL he was getting was ridiculous. Glad he got the bag, Kentucky won nothing, and hopefully he's coming back to lead the backcourt.

I know it’s easy to blame the guy transferring, but locker room cancer doesn’t sound like Denzel.

Yah I doubt Denzel was starting any locker room drama. He was always super chill at FL.
Maybe he and Owen didn't get along but seems like that would very likely be instigated by Oweh judging by their personalities.
I don't have any ill will towards Aberdeen. It's just the way college sports is now unfortunately. Kentucky massively overpaid him. If someone is offering you an extra mil that's certainly hard to turn down. He's probably not an NBA player so that was very likely the highest earning year of his life.
