As you would expect to see - Auburn has struggled late multiple times in recent history. The seasons?

2012-13 Tony Barbee 0-10
1993-94 Tommy Joe Eagles 1-9
2015-16 Bruce Pearl 1-9 (his 2nd season)
2020-21 Bruce Pearl 2-8 (postseason ban)
2014-14 Tony Barbee 2-8
2025-26 Stephen Pearl 2-8

Welcome back to the bottom of Auburn basketball.

It’s a good thing that we can rebound so well next year when Stephen gets “his players” …….

Stating the obvious but 5 of 6 are in past 15 years and Bruce has 2 of em.

Welcome to the new SEC where there are good coaches and good players outside of UK.

Am I wrong or does this invalidate the premise of this thread entirely?

2020-21 Bruce Pearl 2-8 (postseason ban)

And this only reinforce that notion?

The program Bruce took over vs what Steven took over are not the same in any way whatsoever. The covid season with Coopers issue and postseason ban is an obvious one off outliner for a number of reasons

Roster turnover due to NIL sort of invalidates that. There’s far less continuity these days.

Case in point, Tahaad was the only real link to last year’s roster outside of walk ons like Muschalek.

And he's incredible. By far our best player.

It's a different landscape for sure but the status of the program is still a significant factor in attracting talent. We had less than zero clout as a program when Bruce took over. We've made multiple final fours, won numerous conference titles, earned a reputation as one of the best home court environments in basketball, hosted multiple college gamedays, put guys in the league etc

I look at this ye kind of like Butch’s 1st. Give him a chance with a full yr as a leader. Steven and the players got thrown into a bad situation

I don’t believe we are top 30 roster, maybe top 40 and that is where we r ranked. Injuries, and a couple of guys not being physically ready to play have hurt as well.

Well we are. We have sleeping potential from 1-7 that can literally beat teams like Florida on the road. Talent isn't put together very well so it doesn't fit.
Even Overton which is a sieve on defense has the talent to nail 6 or 7 threes in a game.

Sway was nearly a 5*'
Hall Big 12 scorer
Pett 5*
Murphy- talented offensively
Overton- 3s
Freeman- potential bleeds out of him
Like I have said before we only had three misses.

Now harken back to Bruce's first years here. Rosters are way less similar than yall are letting on. Bruce thought so much of Purifoy's talents after dealing with so little at Auburn that he called him his "first pro".

Believe it or not there was life before Purifoy and Horace Spencer

We are ranked 40, and 30 in Ken Pom. Exactly where you are saying is our roster is ranked.

This year is similar to Butch Thompson’s first year not Bruce’s. Everyone was put in a tough spot

I am less intimate with the details of Butch's first year. I am very familiar with the details of the softball program after Myers resigned. That first year with a new softball coach and leftover players we were decent but a notch below where we were. We only went down after Myers' players graduated. That's the worst case scenario.

Well let's definitely wallow in that before we know what the hell our roster looks like for next season.

What does worst case scenario mean to you?

Best case scenario: presser at 4!
