I heard that we received back some good responses for the RFP that was sent out. Does anyone have any information? According to Keith in a podcast in December, the plan is to push capacity above 70k by adding more student seats and premium seats, primarily in the North Endzone. I really hope something is done with the West concourse. That's the worst part of the entire stadium.

If we're going to do this, I hope we can get the capacity to closer to 80k. It might suck short term if we're only getting around $72k-$75k there, but the enrollment has gone up so much the alumni base is going to jump up drastically over the next 10 years. Would rather be prepared for the demand 10-15 years from now so we don't have to talk about another expansion at that point.

If we increase the capacity to 80, State fan's heads would explode. So I'm in.

They are only concentrating on the North Endzone. I believe your 80k will be likelier to happen when we do something with the West side.

And not surprisingly, everyone in the conference would still claim that we have a high school stadium.

And people actually believe that stupid shite. Some Texas fan on Twitter thought our stadium only held around 40k and that "some high school stadiums in Texas hold more than that." The largest HS stadium is Gormley stadium in New Orleans and it only holds 26k. Idiots abound everywhere.

I guess there’s a bunch of people with a lot of money to fill those seats but with how expensive everything else in life is and the emergence of AI making jobs obsolete and things, I am leery of expanding so much.

I'm a fan of over 70k, I think we're overestimating our fan support if we got to 80k

Yes, in all seriousness 80k would be stupid.

70k with the ability to hit 75k for big games seems about right. OU is going from 80k to 73k with their stadium upgrade. Florida is going from 88k to 80k with their stadium upgrade.

2 of the most legendary stadiums in college football will have capacity between 70k and 80k. Seems like good company lol.

Really need to focus on aesthetics and acoustics by replicating the south endzone design on the east and west sides. And make it a rowdy atmosphere.

Would love to see the RFP’s if anyone has access.

They aren't reducing capacity because they need to reduce capacity. They are doing it simply to fit in more premium seating. We need more general seating. Our big games are extremely hard to get into if you don't have season tickets and we don't have a good spot to put the visitors making their crowds far more prominent than they should be.

Still constrained by the size of Oxford and remoteness of Oxford. Theres not much between Jxn/Tupelo/Memphis and Oxford. You dont have much of a secondary staging town to capture overflow travellers coming in for game. Not a whole lot of attendees w/in short drive. If you go to a game you’re pretty much constrained to stay in town for at least that night, if not the night before as well.

For the above reasons the capacity will always be somewhat lower than what it would be if Oxford wasnt located in the area it is.

Part of what makes it unique as well

Something like this as a phase 1
with something similar in phase 2
on the east and west side with improved concessions and restrooms. Add an entertainment district walking up to the stadium from the grove and that’s a pretty sick gameday experience.
