They had to know there was a chance they'd have to pay the buyout regardless. They have the money or they wouldn't have fired him.

Damn, I’ve been out of the loop, didn’t know until this post. Explains buddy’s comment the other night while watching Mizzou, “How about K-state?” I’m like they’re God awful I saw them get blown out at home by a MAC team.
I’m assuming Pootie is tied up with or the AD department is trying to prove that he had knowledge and covered for his assistant coach/player development position etc. that was a player on Baylor’s BB title team of which Tang was the head assistant. He was swat-teamed for domestic violence and threatening to kill a b*tch. I don’t believe it’s an isolated incident and probably broke the dam and gave them the ammunition to wear out his welcome in the little apple.
