Ranking the SEC by combined titles in Big3 sports (excluding disputed retroactive claims)

LSU - 13
Bama - 13*
ETA: Texas - 10**
ETA: Oklahoma - 9**
Kentucky - 8
Florida - 7
Georgia - 4
Tennessee - 3
*This excludes retroactive pre-1936 claims & Bama’s 9-2 #20 AP ranked 1941 team. All claimed in the 80s to “bolster the program’s history”.
**Texas & OU are allowed because, despite not being in the conference for the majority of the time span — this doesn’t matter as much when just counting national titles
Auburn is notably… not on the list.
I have also excluded LSU’s 1935 basketball championship & included Bama’s 2020 football championship, in the interest of being extra fair.
Side note: California schools + Michigan smoke the SEC here historically overall… but LSU smokes the entire NCAA since 1980.

LSU is the only program with 3 national titles in 2 major men’s sports in the 21st century.
Truly the greatest athletic program in the world.

It’s about to get lonely at the top.

Well to be fair I didn’t invent “Big 3 sports”.
But this seems as good a time as any to remind everyone that LSU is 18-14-1 vs UGA all time in football.

This shite has got to stop.
The Big 6 refers specifically to the 6 teams who have won an SEC Championship game. When a new team wins won, we can call it the Big 7.

Here you go friend. From the NCAA themselves, recognized football national championships.
NCAA Recognized Football National Championships
I will trust them over a bitter and broken LSU fan.
Alabama has more football national championships listed than LSU has combined in all three sports.
And there is no big three. There is football. There is men’s basketball. And then there are all the sports that lose money year after year because of lack of interest.

Please… Wayne Atchison was criticized for the retroactive claims even by Bama fans. It was seen no differently than Auburn’s recent wave of additions at the time.
Pre-AP football championships were awarded by various polling organizations long after the seasons concluded… rather than by a single, definitive national poll. Before the AP Poll started in 1936, multiple & often conflicting selectors named winners.
More recent history actually looks a bit worse for the tide… Since 1980:
LSU - 11
Florida - 7
Bama - 7
Georgia - 4
Kentucky - 3
It’s interesting that the list since 1980 doesn’t change all that much.

Well maybe not in Alabama.
But that’s just sour grapes

How does it look when, like the vast majority of sports fans, you ignore baseball?
How much money has LSU baseball lost since 1980?

Hey don’t project your hatred of America’s favorite pastime onto the rest of us.

Interesting… are you pivoting back to caring about baseball?
National Titles in the last 50 years:
LSU 8 | Bama 0
National Titles all time:
LSU 8 | Bama 0

Can you please point out college baseball? Like fans they seem to be missing.

Oh damn, MLB having second most attendance of all sports leagues really bolsters the argument that we shouldn’t care about baseball!
What are Paul Skenes & Dylan Crews doing these days?

We all know why Gumps “don’t care about baseball”
Failing to make it to Omaha in the 21st century will do that.
It was a lot of fun to watch the Gumps who “don’t care about baseball” bitch up a storm when they got paired with Wake Forest in the 2023 Super Regional.
Alabama got blasted, of course, and Wake Forest was eventually sent home from Omaha by…well…you know…Daddy LSU.
