I'd say that both men walked into the same situation, but that'd be disingenuous.
DeCline was given a dynastic powerhouse, situated above all but two or three programs. He was given the keys to a mansion in the Hamptons.
Miles was handed a good program, not yet great. The foundation was set, but the house wasn't built. He had to finish the construction.

It doesn't matter. They were wrong and now they have to pivot to bring up anything new that he hasn't done. It will continue to happen as long as LSU keeps doing things the board says it can't/won't do.

Sure.
The NIL/Transfer Portal Era began in 2021 when players could transfer without having to sit out a year and could likewise legally make money off of their name, image, and likeness. I hope that helps.
In the aftermath of Saban's retirement in 2024, some 26 players - including 10 key contributors - transferred from Alabama in the month of January. How many of LSU's key players transferred when Saban left for the NFL?
