The judge who granted Bediako immediately eligible for Alabama is a Bama donor.

LOL, really?

The judge and his wife Mary Turner Roberts are listed as active athletic donors on The Crimson Tide Foundation’s website, with lifetime contributions between $100,000 and $249,000.
Seems a tad bit of conflict of interest.

Yea, I’m asking what that has to do with the interpretation of law.

Roberts appears to be that judge, and his backing of Crimson Tide sports isn’t his family’s only conflict of interest. His wife is a lawyer on the defense team for Bediako’s former Alabama teammate Darius Miles, who is set to stand trial for capital murder in a 2023 shooting.

You think a judge should recuse himself from a ruling with his deep connections to Bama Athletics?

I think any judge would come to the same conclusion.
It’s okay for a European professional to play college basketball but not an American.
It’s okay for an American athlete to earn NIL but not a Canadian athlete.
If you can’t see the arbitrary nature of those NCAA bylaws then I can’t help.

Great. The way we avoid potential for corruption is by judges with such conflicts to refuse from these cases.
Let any other judge handle it. Preferably ones that are not donors.

Alabama judicial ethics oversight might want to have a word with this judge.

Probably just a coincidence

Rule of law matters not any more.
Judges just make any rulings they feel benefit them personally, conflicts of interest and judicial precedent be damned.

Then let some other judge come to that conclusion. Conflicts of interest are major ethics issues.

I see a complaint filed with their ethics body for judges

Good luck finding a judge in Tuscaloosa that isn't a donor.

That's like Mitch Mcconnell's wife being head of transportation despite her foreign family owning transportation business.
