Indiana or 2019 LSU?

I don’t get why this is even debated. I still think 2019 LSU is one of greatest teams ever assembled. Maybe IU had the greatest season ever because of the Cinderella story but this IU fan and alum doesn’t give a damn!!!! I am just happy as hell my team won something for once in my adult life. Being a IU grad from South Bend both of my teams haven’t done much.

I don’t see a sense in comparing pre-NIL champs to post NIL-champs. Especially those teams right before NIL and spanning back about 15 years
The fabric of what teams are was totally different, teams were able to keep players and sub in wave after wave of 4-5 star talent and just beat and out-talent you into submission. That talent was also highly concentrated in the southeast with a few exceptions. The days of stockpiling like that are all but over now
It is a new system now and in 2025, Indiana was the best at utilizing that system to put the best product on the field. That’s all that really matters

Once I found out that the average age of Indiana was 23, and that a lot of those “kids” were using their Covid year, I will say LSU hands down, and I’m personally on some frick everything LSU. LSU’s WRs were 3 stars too, not a bunch of 5 stars. But if you have followed recruiting over the years, you’d know a Louisiana 3 star equals a Texas 4 star. And I don’t even like them.

Indiana doesn’t beat a single national champion before 2022. NIL era teams are weak

Still 1995 Nebraska. Indiana had multiple close games.
Hell of a season though. I never would have thought it and didn't believe until 38-3. After that the only thing surprising was that Miami kept it close.

Well Jefferson was. But Chase and Marshall were pretty highly regarded recruits coming out.

Chase the was 5 star stud, but Jefferson might be the best of the bunch.

2019 LSU would smash 2025 Indiana through the drywall
is anyone really debating this?

Bc they went undefeated, but when you add the context that the rosters average age was 23 years old, it’s lame.
This happens in basketball. 2 years ago, the Miami team that was good was mostly over 22 year olds and transfers. Now they are paying pros to come back.
What is sad, is the Baylor coach with the pro he’s paying, used Jesus Christ as a reason why you shouldn’t boo him. He literally added, God or church as a reason not to call it out, and I won’t be surprised when Oats does it.

I don’t think you can ever really compare teams like that.
Plus there is no denying what IU did this year. I wouldn’t think much of them if they were like a 1984 BYU, but they beat Ohio St, Alabama, Oregon twice and a Miami team that was on an unbelievable heater.
They are a very deserving champion and one of the best stories in college football history, hands down. Hell, the 2024 team was one of the great stories in college football.

the highest rated receiver recruit on that team was Marshall believe it or not. He was the #1 receiver in his class. Chase was a 5 star on 247 but was a composite 4 star. But yeah Jefferson was a low 3 star and nit even a top 200 receiver out of high school. He basically got an offer because both his brothers played at LSU. LSU was his only P4 offer.
Chase was still the best receiver on that team. He was better in college and IMO is better in the NFL, although the difference in the two is obviously arguable.

JJ got an offer because he schooled 5 Star Dbs at LSU camp. He also logged time as a true freshman as #32, which LSU didn’t do much at the time. He was a grade risk and did not visit or camp with any other school. His film was solid, but his measurables and metrics were not elite. He could always play ball and was always an elite route runner.

6 games in IIRC, Marshall was outpacing Chase to set some sort of insane record for TD receptions in a season — prior to his injury. The games where all three of them were on the field at the same time were just dumb

I don’t know which is harder to believe: HRV having a logical, non-trolling take or him using the Arkansas logo.

It's not logical. It's bait. He should try "debating" it !
BTW 16-0 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 15-0
Congratulations to Indiana , best college football team ever !

Same here. I’m just happy for the win. Never thought I would see this.

Indiana was a complete team in all 3 phases. That 2019 LSU defense was garbo for a supposed all time best
