Mac really improved people's perception of him with the way he played subbing for Purdy. Does he go elsewhere or do the 9ers keep him?

Tua...wellll some say he's lost it, some say its mental or lingering medical injuries. Miami paid him way too much to probably get rid of him but this is the NFL and we've all seen nfl teams do stupid stuff. Imo a team that would pay to have him is the Raiders. Not that I think having Tua is a bad decision its just for the amount that it would cost.

Personally Im glad McDaniels is gone. Half his interviews looked like he was high.

I don't think SF lets Mac leave because Purdy has a history of injuries.

Tua isn't going anywhere because Miami can't afford for Tua to go anywhere. At least for another year.

McDaniel was a computer nerd coach out of his element. We've all seen what Tua can do when healthy with a supporting cast.

Some team will come for Mac and offer him a ton of money to be their starting QB. Even if the 49’ers decide to match the offers , Mac may decide to leave.
Darnold has resurrected himself as a starter and Mac probably should take the same route. Pittsburgh perhaps?

Plenty of teans could use Mac over starting QB.

Mac is under contract for next year so he really has no choice...it isn't college football lol.

They could trade him, which I'd like to see, but I think they hold on to a quality "cheap" backup unless they get a really good trade offer. Minnesota would be a good spot if it happened...McCarthy ain't it.

Tua...weird situation. I think they end up cutting him after June 1 and just eating that ill advised contract. New coach and GM...Miami is going to want to start fresh.

Tua then can sign with whoever. Someone will offer him an obviously much smaller, 1 year prove it contract. Whatever happens, he got generational wealth already.

Tua needs to retire while he still has his mental faculties.

Yeah and it's exactly what he has done in Miami, right? Tua has never lead an entire season of football from start to finish. Even when we won, he played the second half of the NCG or didn't play the second half of that next year's SEC CG.

49ers have Mac on a cheap contact and have seen him be able to perform well for them. They’ll keep him around as insurance unless somebody offers something big which I don’t see.

I wished Tua would just ride off into the sunset. He was one of my favorite Bama players but injury prone. Some of us are just like that, you can't get back your health, no matter how much money. I would think about how am I going to get out of bed every morning when I'm 50, but in your 20s you feel like that is so far away.

The 9ers have a starter caliber guy at backup and are only paying him 6 million. They’ll set a 1st round price of him

Tua has made 125 million since he entered the NFL
Miami owes him near 100 million guaranteed
I assume if he just retires by his choice then money owed would change.

Where Mac ends up may have a lot to do with where current assistants that run the Shanahan system end up. If any guys from McVey’s, Kyle Shanahan or Macdonald’s offensive staff lands a head coaching job at a place without a decent QB that works with their system, they may make a move for Mac.

Tua likely needs to hang it up before his body breaks down. Teams see it, coaches see it don’t think he sees it yet. Maybe getting cut and seeing nothing but low value contracts will change his mind. He has a ton of money, it’s time for the next phase of life for him.

Tua isn’t getting cut

Tua also isn’t getting anything close to a one year cheap deal to sit on a bench. He’ll be a starter somewhere else

Also the CTE comments are annoying when you consider guys like Brady, Cutler, and dozens of other multi year starters with a dozen+ concussions in their career.

CTE is a guarantee in the sport, is a bit more driven by subconcussive hits (see CTE rates of linemen) and all players are getting concussed left and right. There is nothing healthy about the sport, if Tua “needs to hang it up” so does 90% of the league.

If he wants to play and keep earnings tens of millions at the risk of dementia by 60, let him. That’s the reality of the sport. Three concussions and everyone calling it lights for a career is wild when Gronk is out there bragging about 20 with other players corroborating it. Stop lying to yourselves about the sport being safe
