Might as well get it started since it appears our basketball team has forgotten how to play.

We're down 7 on the road to a top 25 team, relax.

AND, how did that go for us?

2/2 in conference... Smacked upside the head in the 1st half and never got control or punched above our weight. Our defense is atrocious, our slow starts are endemic.

Darius Acuff is the only new guy that plays winning basketball.

He scores when he gets opportunities and gets his teammates good looks all game long.

Meleek is a shot chucker that continues to fire away when the team doesn't want/need him to. He has got to learn to make his teammates better when he's struggling like that. But when he puts the ball on the floor bad things happen often. So...

Malique has gotten better, but he still puts up little resistance on defense.

Pringle, is well... not good. Doesn't rebound, doesn't score, doesn't block or even alter shots. Worst transfer we've had in the NIL era.

IMO

I think Karter needs more minutes over Meleek because he's a bigger body that can make open threes. He also defends better, blocks shots, and can score in paint. His only flaw is his consistent ability to fall down or lose his balance.

Billy should start over DJ. The only way my opinion would change on that is if DJ would start driving to the basket and getting those layups, and or drawing fouls to shoot ft's. I have no idea why he refuses to do it.

So

Acuff
Billy
Knox
Brazile
Ewin

I haven’t heard much about the baseball team this year but the schedule is pretty favorable. Hopefully we won’t see a drop off from last year. It will be hard to top how fun that team was to watch.

Without significant improvement, this will be our downfall in March. You cannot be giving up 80+ to every remotely decent team you play and expect to go very far.

Never works out for us for some reason.

I expect to go 49-19, finish second in the conference, and be eliminated by LSU in the tournament. I will drink some beer and appreciate the fine season. No sarcasm at all. I've just learned to accept and enjoy it.

Almost impossible not to have a bit of a drop off from last year's offensive production. Hopefully the top end pitching is better and Gaeckle can be the guy we need him to be.

I honestly don’t know if I can do it again this year with the baseball team. If that 9th inning against LSU last year didn’t prove that we are just snakebit as a program and won’t ever win one, then I don’t know what will.

The ninth inning meltdown was just as bad as the foul ball.

This is Dave's year, schedule is extremely favorable and he's recruited well.

It's this year or never for DVH.

We're winning it all this season

I'm getting tired of having to get used to the new roster every spring, but at least it's not the high percentage as football and basketball on that thing.

Damn right. This may be a more complete team than last year.

I'm sorry, but I've heard this 10-15 years in a row now.

There were no "weaknesses" on last years' roster. It can't get any more complete. Now....whether they can field well enough in Omaha to win a championship, I guess we'll have to wait until the summer.

TLDR: We have as complete a roster as anyone in the country every year for going-on 2 decades now.

It really doesn’t matter what sport it is. We have a losing culture within our athletic department. Unless that’s rooted out, things will never change. I’m so sick of seeing these loser X posts, etc. when we’ve already embarrassed ourselves in a given game. “Let’s follow an L up with a post about how ‘awesome’ we are”. We aren’t. I was a kid when we won in 94 and our programs, fans, administration, and players were totally different - we didn’t take shite from anyone, no matter what. Now we really do just lay down like warriors sometimes do and bleed quite frequently. We are beyond snakebit. It’s time to clean the swamp in the AD and BOT out.
