Sounds insane but it would explain some things.
Defense and special teams has been fine in the portal. Offense has whiffed on basically everybody. We're on like plan F for the OL and there's zero evidence that Kyle Flood is gonna corch up whatever G5 guys we eventually sign.

Are we only going after the top guys period for all of the skill positions and line?
It's shocking we're not signing more 3* guys or even guys from JuCo, Div 2, FCS, etc.
Indiana, Miami, and Ole Miss practically gave everyone a blue print.

The portal is going to have to have some adjustments. It is ridiculous to start at zero every year and build a roster in college football.

Texas has never been ballers in the portal. Past and current players will tell you. We got some discounts on guys like Isaiah Bond and AD Mitchell. Texas does spend a ton in the HS ranks, but that just seems like an insane strategy today.

Hard not to panic when we got 21 guys in the portal, over 10 leaving to go pro/graduating, and only signed 5 in portal.
We also only signed 23 commits in hs recruiting.
