With former USC QB Sean Salisbury. He was going on about Riley’s offense lacks physicality. Basically, while the offense is innovative, there are times where they desperately need one yard for a first down or TD and often couldn’t come up with that one yard.

I was thinking, “Wow, that sounds eerily similar to CKD and Alabama this year.”

Coach Bryant used to say “If you need one yard and can’t get it pretty consistently, you probably deserve to lose.” . Interesting how something that was said 40+ years ago and after all the changes in the college football landscape, it’s still true.

I’m hoping CKD figures this out. We have GOT to be more physical.

Having the GOAT at your program for over a decade comes with a penalty. Now we have to pay it. We had to with Bear, and now we have to do it again. Hopefully the drought won’t last that long this time.

Bama went for it on 4th down…49% of the time.

We had a 1st down….65% of the time.

The philosophy is not going to change.

He may get some players in that help and this would be a case where only having them for a year is better than having them for 4.

I don't mind the aggression but you damn sure better be good at getting a tough yard if you're going to be that aggressive on 4th and short. Granted, he went for it on 4th and medium in opponent's territory quite a bit too.

I don’t mind that percentage of going for it on 4th, assuming where we are on the field, what point in the game, what play we have in mind and the yard to gain.

The problem is on way, way too many times on 3rd or 4th and one, we had a HORRIBLE play called or it took way too long to develop, or we got cute when should not be or most commonly, our O line got destroyed at the point of attack.

Getting cute on 4th down is often a result of not being able to get a tough yad. If you are going to go for it on 4th down better to call a play that will work and running it straight ahead isn't a good idea.

When it works you're a genius and when it doesn't they erase every time it worked in the past and call you an idiot.
