The SEC flew too close to the Sun.

And two of those wins are sec vs sec

That does not say what you think it says, because 2 of the losses are also sec vs sec.

Outside of the playoffs, bowl games mean absolutely shite. They are certainly not a good measure of conference vs conference strength.

Take them out. 2-7 is even worse.
Yeesh.
Yeesh.

That's a convenient message given the results this year. I have a feeling that SEC fans would be crowing if it were the other way around. Oh, by the way, some of these results happened in playoff games and bowl games like the Orange Bowl. I thought it meant more in the SEC?

Move bowl games to beginning of season and give me the records.

Like I said, the losses in the playoffs are legit. Outside of that, they mean very little considering the prevalence of opt-outs in bowl games these days. I obviously have no dog in the fight because my team's too crappy to even be in the Toilet Bowl. But to use meaningless bowl games as a measuring stick win or lose is ridiculous in today's game.

I do not know why everyone cannot see that the current SEC (last 2-3 seasons) is NOT what we were in the earlier two decades of the 21st century. We are NOT the top conference in producing championship contenders, the Big10 is now. Will that continue, time will tell.

Not only that, but the SEC is often screwed by the matchups having to face higher ranked teams.
Bowls:
W - #13 Texas (SEC #5) 41 vs #18 Michigan (Big 10 #4) 27
L - #23 Iowa (Big 10 #6) 34 vs #14 Vanderbilt (SEC #7) 27
L - #19 UVA (ACC #2) 13 vs Mizzou (SEC #8) 7
L - Illinois (Big 10 #7) 30 vs Tennessee (SEC #9) 28
L - #21 Houston 38 (Big 12 #4) vs LSU (SEC #10) 35
L - Wake Forest (ACC #11) 43 vs MSU (SEC #14) 29
Playoffs:
W/L - #6 Ole Miss (SEC #3) 39 vs #3 UGA (SEC Champ) 34
L - #1 Indiana (Big 10 #1) 38 vs #9 Bama (SEC #2) 3
W/L - #9 Bama (SEC #2) 34 @ #8 OU (SEC #6) 24
W - #6 Ole Miss (SEC #3) 41 vs #20 Tulane (AAC Champ) 10
L - #10 Miami 10 (ACC #3) @ #7 A&M (SEC #4) 3

Oh, I'm not arguing that at all. There is definitely more parity across the board. Meaningless bowls are still meaningless though, in regard to measuring conference strength.

Okay. That makes sense.

You either play for the name on the front of your jersey, or you don't.
Miss State played hard last night, til the final whistle. The Wake QB lowered his shoulder to take on 3 tacklers, and getting the 1st down was a thing of beauty. That was I watched til the end of the game. Both teams played hard; one won and one lost.
Don't trivialize the game because some choose to mail it in.
