DeBoer is gonna have to grow as head coach

That first step should be making some staff changes for the OL, strength and conditioning and rb's coach. He's had some absolute stinkers his first two years here so obviously he should know something isn't working. It's up to him to figure it out. Saban, early in his career, had some absolute beatdowns at MSU and LSU, but he eventually got it figured out and became the goat because of it.
I'm not gonna give up on him yet, but last night was completely unacceptable (along with the uga game). I still think you have to give him time to get his own recruited qb and ol in there for the season before pulling the trigger and firing him.
The guy right now is flawed as shite as head coach, but his record as a head coach is still better than probably 95% of other coaches out there right now. And he's only been doing it for 6 seasons. It tells me the potential is there, but it's up to him to get his current issues fixed and turn that potential into greatness.

Problem is, DeBoer isn't early in his career.

Deboer is who he is. He will grow, yes probably, but who he is and his underlying philosophies will not change.
The key is whether he will let go of his loyalty to buddies or buddies’ buddies and accept coaches on his staff who may be better than him as a coach.

How much has he improved himself in the last 2 years?

At age 50, Saban was blown out by Alabama and wasn’t even close to winning a title. Cignetti was a position coach or own his way to IUP. Dan Lanning is 40 and just got blown out as the #1 seed last year.
Make some changes to the staff, let him learn, etc.

He is. I mean he's only been a D1 head coach for 6 years. He's only 51. He's definitely still early in his career. Lot's of time for him to get better and adapt/adjust. Will he? I don't know. His record is pretty good after 6 seasons. His turn around at Washington was massive, which tells me he's not a bad coach. He's a good coach who has some deficiencies right now. He will need to get better. I'm willing to give him some time to get his own players in there. If it's still like this with his guys...... then yeah, you will have no choice but to pull the plug.
One thing I do not want to do is blow through coaches like Florida, Auburn, LSU, etc. Those guys are changing coaches every 3-4 seasons. It's laughable.

He needs an MRI on his brain for that 4th and 1 decision. One of the dumbest decisons by an Alabama coach.

Kirby did the same thing last night against Ole Miss. And a pass play to boot on 4th and 1. It resulted in a sack and Ole Miss 1st down at the Georgia 20 with less than 10 minutes in the game.

A lot of coaches have gone crazy with these fourth-down deals. Kiffin loves to go for it on fourth down like a wino loves MD 20-20.
I’m not saying you never do it but it better be a game moment and you better have something that you are metaphysically certain is going to work and you better be ready to own it if it blows up on you.
Last night was not the time to go for it IMO.

Cost him the game too.

He’s been a HC for 5 years and has only coached at the P4/5 level for 5 years. He definitely has room to grow.
What will make him successful or not is if he’s willing to make adjustments when they’re needed. If he’s like Dabo or Les Miles and not willing to adjust he’ll be fired in 26 or 27. If he makes the needed adjustments, he’ll be good.

Bama was physically dominated last night. You don't have to be a million dollar coach to see that. I have a feeling he has known that all year. This summers off season program needs drastic change. Bama has declined steadily since Cochran left.

A lot of the stuff here is fixable. So it’s wild people want to jump ship.

Shula had scholly reductions, major season ending injures to our top players, started several walk-on's at times, and never lost by 35 points.
At his first HC'ing job.
