Rose Bowl Crowd Split

It was hard to tell how many fans each team had because of the similar colors. I kept waiting for the cameras to show footage of Bama fans heading for the exits…
But then when the trophy presentation was going on, and the stadium was still full, I realized bama barely had any fans there from the start.
What was it… like a 90-10 crowd split?

After the game? Probably 100% Indiana

Pretty damn close.
I know I'll never go to another CFB game again. TV's are too good. I can see everything. And my drinks and food will always be top notch at a fraction of the cost that the poors pay at a game for very shitty concessions.

I don't know the split but Indiana had a significant advantage. Considering Indiana's and Alabama's football history, this isn't surprising.

Indiana hadn’t been in almost 60 years. Herbstreit talked of Indiana fans crying before the game even started.
Of course they were going to have more fans there. Just like had Alabama won, their fans would’ve shown up in Atlanta next week. The playoff makes it where you can’t just show up to every game, especially when you’re a program that’s been to many big games over the last 15 years. Look at Ole Miss having more fans in New Orleans last night.

If I was a Georgia fan, no way I would have even have spent the money on a game in NOLA. Assuming it would go well, I would have waited for a much bigger game.
First round stuff is getting to be old hat for Georgia fans and it should be to be honest.

I understand your thinking, but the Sugar Bowl at least falls on a holiday. Getting to Phoenix for a Thursday game would have been tough for a lot of UGA fans.

I've seen reports that it was 80-90% Indiana fans. Being the #1 overall seed going to the Rose Bowl and playing a team from the south provides a tremendous crowd advantage because it's hard to mobilize a large portion of a fanbase to get plane tickets, hotel rooms, and game tickets in 13 days between the first round and the quarterfinals.
Those Indiana fans had a month to plan and scooped up a large chunk of the tickets.

The fact that the semi finals are on a Thursday and Friday is absurd. Should both be on Saturday, but the NFL I know.

Maybe. I wouldn't go to either tbh. Last game I went to was Iron Bowl 2018. No more for me unless it's an Air Force Academy game (down the street from me)
