1HourDawg is one of the present day MVPs of Georgia football, and this the best way to rewatch games imo.

Gunner threw 1 pass that went further than 15 yards passed the line of scrimmage. On 31 dropbacks, Gunner scrambled on 5 and checked it down to a running back on 5. Didn't count, but we may have thrown 2 passes in between the hash marks further than 7 or 8 yards down the field, because Kirby always tells us that throwing in between the hashmarks is where bad things happen and turnovers happen.

All of this is awesome but also kind of worrying. It means that our offense was able to control the game against Alabama and impose its will without taking risks. The only time that Bama halfway sniffed an interception was on a batted pass at the line of scrimmage. I know that a lot of our playcalling was based on game control and having a lead, and then also not having Colby Young and Noah Thomas.

But you still sort of have to wonder what happens if we have to open up the offense and get in a higher scoring game against a good defense. It worked against Tennessee and Ole Miss, but they both have relatively shitty defenses.

Hopefully we will end the season still wondering what would happen because we win the nattional title playing our brand of football. That's the plan, at least.

Worrying? No. They were running high safeties and took away the deep ball

Exactly this.

They were playing Cover 2 shell almost exclusively

We'll need more than 298 yards of total offense at some point in this title run, man.

There have been some games where it seems like we can't run the ball to save our lives, and there have been other games where it seems like we flatly refused to pass even though it seems like that's what's been working.

We have been able to match teams point for point this season. I’m not concerns with being able to score points if we need to.

Dude you act like that’s the ceiling. We didn’t need more than that.

as lexi said, we didn't need to do much more. Due to our excellent defense, a blocked punt, an interception, and a good punt return, we had short fields almost all day. Not to mention the game wasn't ever really close on teh scoreboard and we had comfy leads all day.

.

You realize that our defense and special teams created short fields for us, right? Our offense is capable of doing more

As a point of comparison we had 357 total yards in the first matchup, but scored less points.

total yards rarely ever tells the full tale

Exactly

Anyone who uses total yards as a barometer of offensive or defensive efficiency doesn't know football.

I think Kirby figured out pretty early in that game that the defense was going to handle Alabama's offense and told Bobo and Stockton to not do anything that could give Alabama a short field.

So gunner throwing for 130 then 150 is gonna be enough when other teams play us that way?

Do y’all want us to throw the ball where they defense is playing or where they are not playing?

We scored 28 points on four red zone possessions. Credit to Bobo, but you can't count on that every game.

If Ty Simpson was on fire and Bama scored a special teams touchdown or something goofy happened, could've we opened up the offense and thrown down field to receivers is the question, I guess.

Yes, this is correct. It was the most satisfying Georgia game since 65-7. All 5 stars on the survey. But every game can't be a Kirby Special and be the kind of game Kirby prefers to play.

call me crazy, but in that game in real life our coaches probably weren't thinking about other fictional scenarios to gameplan for. They were calling plays based on what was actaully happening.

We scored 43 on ole miss already. I'm not worried about our offense.

I want a QB who is capable of passing at a high level.
