They've been one of the more consistent programs for awhile now.

The Ducks have been all feathers, no Quack when the lights are the brightest.

The one thing they’ve always lacked was depth on the D line and O line. QBs, WR, TE and RBs have been really good over the years. But they don’t quite get the horses that SEC teams or OSU gets up front. That’s what hurts them. As to your question, they seem to have a defense this year but they are untested. Didn’t get OSU or Michigan on their schedule and their OOC sucked. They beat three good teams

With Lanning…maybe. But more than likely, no.

Always pretty good, never elite.

Oregon has a lot of beauty. It's a pretty cool state for the outdoorsman. It's pretty conservative outside of the bigger cities

There is no logical reason they are the 5 seed, overall soft schedule, they beat one descent team in USC. Beat Penn. St. on double overtime and Iowa on a last second FG.

Both Ole Miss and Texas AM should be ahead of them.

Probably most don't...

But.

Oregon has two major problems in recruiting...

1) For most players Eugene is way, way far away from home. Even the Cali players are hundreds of miles away from home... and most everybody else.. thousands of miles.

2) Eugene is basically all white. And while that isn't all that unusual for college towns outside the south... the state of Oregon is somewhat stigmatized in the black community at large because they used to have black exclusion laws there. It was illegal to live there if you were black.

And although those days are long gone. It was kind of woven into black culture that blacks weren't welcome in Oregon. I'm not sure that for a recruit in some other part of the country that even today...his grandma might have heard that about Oregon while she was growing up.

They’re set up for a deep playoff run this year so I’d say if they are ever going to this is the time
