It is no secret that Kirby cultivates future head coaches on his staff. The tree is strong. So a two prong question. Who are the next likely candidates to level up to a head coaching role within the next year?
Secondly, Schuman is on the short list we know. Kirby doesn’t ever not have a plan in the wings and for something that seems inevitable, who is your next DC? Are they on staff, a former staffer, an up and comer, or a poach job with ties?
I definitely want the staff intact and we do a great job of it, but I do fear/wonder repercussion of what one day the space looks like at the execution and recruiting level (especially at LB) when coach schu isn’t there?

Schuman said he isn't going anywhere

Maybe not in the next 12 months, but he'll be a head coach in a couple years.

Schuman has a wife and young kids. He and his wife may be perfectly content to raise their family in Athens. Not everyone is looking to move up. He's had many opportunities to do so already but hasn't. Some people find contentment in where they are, and there's a heck of a lot worse places to live than Athen, GA.

Kirby's youngest graduates in 2030. If Coach ever decides to do some deep thinking and ponder the rest of his life, it would probably be somewhere around then.

And you apparently have found contentment with Schumann. There has been so much healing on this board in the last few weeks!

Bama and Georgia combined for 4 players to make first team All-SEC. One apiece on defense. No telling when the last time that happened was. Already been a strange season.

I don't look for my contentment in others. Personality worship guarantees misery as evidenced by so many here. I simply point out facts as they present themself. It's the people who worship personalities who become discontent when they hear facts that reflect badly on their idol. See how easy that was to prove.

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing. After a bit, I decided it is probably better to be very solid all across the defense then to have 5-6 on first or second team, and I think/hope that this is indicative of that. We have a very solid defense and offense. We don't seem to be as dominant as 2021 or 2022, but we have a more balanced team with a strong defense and a strong offense. I like this team a lot right now.

I noticed that too. This seems indicative of NIL and the transfer portal. The talent is spread out across the SEC much more than previously, such as Jared Curtis to Vandy. 5 years ago he never goes there, 2 years from now he may no longer be there. It's hard to stack talent when another school can pay up and offer immediate playing time for players.

It's amusing to me that all of the SECR window lickers were crowing at the beginning of the week when all the dominoes fell for the HC spots and Schumann wasn't picked as a candidate.
