John David Baker (ECU OC) has accepted our offer to become our new OC.

Weiss will remain through playoffs and then John David Baker will take over.

Looked up their stats and ECU had a solid offense this year. 13th in offensive yards, 25th in points per game and 12th in 3rd down efficiency. I’ll take it

Whose system does he run? Is it similar to our current system?

Yeah it's a really solid hire - a number of Power 4 schools wanted him.

Should be a pretty similar offense to what we already run - which hopefully helps recruiting / portal too

Solid hire. JDB runs a high tempo offense and nearly doubled ECU's scoring output. He's also familiar with the offense we've been running.

II mean, they've assembled the greatest staff in the history of mankind and could easily beat out the super bowl champs - just ask them.

ECU was the 4th worst offense in college football before JDB took over.
And he turned that into the 24th best offense in the country year one and 14th best offense in year 2. Impressive.

I agree and I think Lacy leaves with Smith, unfortunately (unless we back up the brinks truck).

Just to reiterate my point from the other thread….we’re saving millions in coaching salary and LSU is paying us millions for contract buyouts.

Those funds can be diverted into NIL.

I don't think the University can legally do that, as that would be the University directly contributing money to the player. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

Most of the money is collected and distributed by the UMAA which is not part of the university. They pay out the university which pays out the coach’s salary. So logically I would say earmark the LSU buyout money for coach’s salary and that money no longer comes out of the UMAA funds. This is the same loophole that allowed us longer contracts than 4 years.

Hey Bob, thanks for your $1mil donation to redo the soccer field. We no longer need money for that project and would be forever grateful if you could redirect that money to the Grove Collective. Thank you for your continued support of OM athletics.
