How do you beat a team that plays a really good zone defense, a monster nose guard and good pash rush?

Don’t press downfield
Quick outs to the flats
Screens against big cushions to your playmakers
Take the check down for 5 yds every time.

Not sexy, not flamboyant….just a winning game plan when you’re up and don’t have to do anything risky with a defense playing lights out.

Well played sir..well played.

Someone said it best on one of the shows, Kirby is perfectly happy winning any game by 14 points.

Nooooo we need to throw the ball 40+ yards downfield every pass, play the backup, scrap screens, run trick plays, throw instead of eat clock, blitz more, blitz less, run more, run less.

Why in the hell would UGA settle for taking what a defense gives them and winning.

I loved the sets will all of the TEs and the QB under center. They created matchup problems for the defense and cutback lanes.

The 4th and 1 in the second quarter when we sent Freeling on the other side of hte right tackle and there was a 10 foot hole off left gaurd for the quarterback sneak was pretty incredible.

Offense controlled the game with only having to throw a pass 15 yards past the line of scrimmage 3 times at the most.

Yeah hope we see more of that. That type of scheme is what McVay is slicing the NFL up with currently.

Offense played alright without Noah Thomas and a new center. Pretty impressive.

Really hoping this offense can evolve a bit before the Sugar Bowl.

You can do so much out of 12 and 13 personnel.

It's sexy AF

Which he learned from Shanahan. Who is the OG of mixing up plays/formations with 12 and 13 personnel

Seems like that unnecessarily crowds the backfield, but judging by the final score, I guess it worked.

a monster nose guard

Dude is a total beast. Often lined up against our noob center. Definitely needed to account for that, and Bobo did very, very well.

You can run or pass with 12 or 13(2 or 3 TE's and 1 RB) personnel out of various formations.

Don't see how it's unnecessary.

We use our receivers and especially TEs truly in run block schemes. Not just blocking on or over, but pulling, combos, and a lof of stuff that is relatively new to football. The pros are using variations of it. All the motion and pre snap stuff helps the QB understand what the D is doing and stresses the D on their own assignments. 7 minute drives with 5 first downs and a bunch of runs and short passes wear down defenses. I love it, but I guess it is not for everyone.

Because the offense knows what's about to happen in a coordinated way, and the defense does not, it really only crowds the defense trying to match up with who has who, and somebody is likely to slip free from the offense.

That's a lot of people to put under center. Most teams usually just go with one.

Well said and I love it, too.
