SECCG Press Conference - DeBoer Addresses Penn State

Hopefully that’s a final nail in the Penn State coffin as it relates to us.

There never was one to begin with. It was douchebags like Tim Brando who fuel the speculation.

As in that Penn State didn’t have interest? I’m pretty confident they did.

And do you think we would’ve extended DeBoer as I expect to see in the offseason if he had lost to Auburn? I don’t.

Not that he was in danger of being on the hot seat but the offseason would’ve been uncomfortable and if Penn State offered him some massive deal it doesn’t seem impossible to me that he makes a switch.

Not likely, not probable… but not impossible.

Also interesting given multiple sources reporting Kiffin waited until Sunday to announce for LSU because he wanted to see what happened with the Iron Bowl.

I've seen this in a few places - I don't know if it is true or not - but it is funny if true.

Kiffin thought KDB would get fired or leave if we lost the IB and Kiffin thought we'd hire him if that happened.

Looking at some of the Penn State boards, apparently Penn State legitimately thought they could get him and apparently was dumbfounded that he wasn’t interested.

It appears that the AD fired Franklin with zero plan, not even a preliminary one, for what to do moving forward and it’s biting them in the arse. For example, the hot name yesterday was frickin’ Brian Daboll.

I mean, he's got Super Bowls and an NC on his resume but it seemed like he hated everything about being a college football coach (and it has only gotten worse with the portal and NIL)

Penn State fans are foaming at the mouth right now about this. Not about Franklin being fired but about the AD screwing the pooch as I said by firing him without a plan in place for a successor, it’s destroyed their recruiting and unless whoever comes in goes crazy in the portal they’re screwed.

I thought he waited until IB to see if Ole Miss would play the SECG if we lost.

Didn't get the impression Lane was thinking about KDB leaving and taking over at Bama.

Going to Penn State now for a ground-up rebuild after getting the pieces in place to run the Alabama program his way (and Russell waiting to take over at QB) would honestly be the dumbest thing I could think for him to do. The rumor never made sense at all.

Looks like it’s now going to be Matt Campbell. Pretty good hire for them.
