Saw where AU is keeping DJ Durkin as Def Coordinator.
I'm sure that won't cause any problems

This was primarily a play to retain the roster. Its not usual for an incoming HC to retain a coordinator from the previous staff. Somewhat surprised Durkin took the job to be honest.

Actually he's one of the better DCs out there, aside from his apparent ethical issues at Maryland. Their defense was what kept the Aubs in most of their games this year.

Yeah, that offense is tough on defenses at times. A lot of quick 3-and-outs when things aren't clicking.

Durkin will be to Golesh what Malzahn was to Chizik.

There's a rumor that Sumrall wanted to take the Auburn job until they tried to dictate he'd have to retain Durkin. He didn't take that as a good sign he'd be able to run the program as he saw fit. Don't know if it's true, but sounds plausible.

Yeah, Josh Pate said that as well. Just goes to show it's only a matter of time before the Golesh experiment falls apart

They hired Golesh because he was Tennessee’s offensive coordinator in the 2022 game when we lost. Then of course because of USF games the following two years. That’s the main reason. Bama Derangement Syndrome is strong in Lee County.
