Is Lack of Talent and Insufficient NIL to Get Quality Talent the Reason the Program is Bad

I know never up never in but we were actually in a lot of these games we played this year and led a number of them at times so was a supposed talent gap really a problem or was the lack of success more attributable to other things? Talent plus adequate depth may matter in this equation, idk, but I really think our problems lie in areas other than a lack of talent on the field.

Considering our season-long collapses in the second half of games, I question our conditioning. Then again, I didn’t see anything much in the way of coaching in the second half of our games either, which has nothing to do with conditioning, but could have everything to do with why we lost umpteen one score games in the last several years.

No our program sucks because we’ve had 3 hires in a row that either sucked or checked out. We haven’t been well coached in quite some time. NIL keeps teams from winning 10+ games…but no excuse for many of the failures we’ve had over the past seasons; other than coaching and not building a winning culture.

That's also a depth problem. Especially on defense.

We were 17th in NIL spending and 8th in the SEC.

It’s pretty obvious what the problem was and it isn’t money.

I didn't even mention money. But lack of talent was definitely an issue. Our starting D-line couldn't pressure a high school team, let alone the rotation guys.

I would say the problem has been keeping the talent rather than just getting it. We've had guys like Paul, Brooks, Foucha, Catalon etc. but they all get poached after showing they're good players. When we can actually keep more talent than we lose after their breakout years, that's when I'll know we've turned a corner.

Where did all the money go?

Did we just give it all to Taylen?

Offense and Petrino.

We didn’t pay for any depth on the DL and didn’t go pay for any type of edge rusher.

It was coaching & administrative problems

Coaching was subpar many times, how NIL was used was subpar, didn’t have the proper football admin personnel, & the UofA higher ups allowed it

Talent is end all, be all for wins. It's that simple. Even a dogshit HC like Ed O or late stage Brian Kelly can still go 8-4 every year because of elite roster talent.

If either of those guys had Ark talent currenrtly, they'd be 2-10, too.
