Every school has to fill their coaching vacancies because of the calendar

LSU is a better job, objectively, and had to hire a coach.

Is Lane supposed to pass on once in a lifetime career opportunity? I’m trying to understand what he really did wrong here.

He even asked to continue to coach, which I understand Ole Miss passing on, but he made the effort. Now that they’ve said no, he has to start building a staff at LSU. It’s customary for members of staffs to go over with coaching changes.

Is the only real issue here just that Ole Miss is having a great season?

If you believe in what you preach about “finishing what you start” then yeah. He had a choice to finish the season but chose not to.

By all reports Lane said he would finish the season and Ole Miss said no.

He offered to and wanted to. You’re saying he should’ve not taken a once in a lifetime opportunity and better job?

Nope. Not if he wanted to actually finish the job

LSU is taking the position that Ole Miss should just lie back and let Kiffin use them (have his playoff run, take all staff, then poach whatever players he wants), all so that LSU has the best possible portal and signing period. That’s just not reasonable. LSU wants everything and is willing to sacrifice nothing.

To be frank.

Ole Miss doesnt sniff 50% of their recent success without Lane Kiffin.

It is entirely on Ole Miss that he isnt "finishing".

He was gone anyway.

Those who are pissed at him are pissed because of the way he drew this out. Yes, it's a big decision, but have some respect for the players that put you in that position.

Kinda similar to Bill Curry leaving Alabama--The second he set foot on a plane to interview at Kentucky, everyone knew he was gone, and he dragged it out for a week so he could enjoy all the attempts to convince him to stay. See also the LeBron circus when he left Cleveland.

I don't fault Kiffin for taking another job--I just don't think he's going to an appreciably better situation. Yes, LSU has won championships, but right now university leadership is dysfunctional at best.

Any rumors about Lane getting into trouble in Oxford?

LSU isn’t taking a position other than we had to have a coach under contract now because of the calendar.

Thats it. And that is completely reasonable and what other programs did as well.

Players seemed fine. Lane didn’t make a decision weeks ago. He did his diligence with LSU and Florida, guided his team to 11-1, then made a decision.

This “circus” was created by media and fans.

How many years did BK have left on his contract?

I'm sorry...remind us all again, which school's actions set all of this in motion? Which school tipped the first domino over?

If you think it's more important to get an extra month of recruiting than it is to find the right coach, then you deserve everything you got coming.

We can’t risk waiting for Kiffin as all the other top coaches are hired away now.
