Eric Morris and Jon Sumrall haven’t turned their hiring process into a media circus. Pretty clear that Lane has and that is why he is getting so much blowback.

It’s also why Nick let Kirby coach the playoffs but not Lane: Kirby is a professional, Lane is a narcissist

Not talking about this year, talking about Saban letting Kirby coach the playoffs after taking the UGA job and firing Kiffin mid playoff run after he went to FAU

I diont have proof but I highly doubt Lane Kiffins name came out of Sabans mouth to Greg Byrne as a coach to replace him. Nick publicly will speak decent about Lane but its not glowing like he speaks of Kirby and Sark.

LSU will be happy to have him until the drama side of him starts leaking. It'll happen and its like dealing with a menstruating middle schooler. If they can keep that side of Lane at bay, he'll do fine. If not, it wont end well.

Kirby was already at Jawja wasn't he?

Sark was brought in to replace Kiffin.

I know that, but you are directly comparing those examples from the past to this year

You stfu until your team completes its historic run, then you entertain offers.

If Ole Miss wasnt in the middle of a run, nobody cares.

Nick let Kirby coach the playoffs but not Lane

But then we saw Nick Saban arguing for Ole Miss to allow Kiffin to coach them into the post season, at least for the CCG if not the CFP.

Because Saban has the same agent as Kiffin and doesn’t care about screwing ole miss over lol. If Saban was the Ole Miss AD there is a 0% chance Lane is coaching the playoff.

Maybe, but the sports media themselves are mostly to blame. They run with what people want to talk about. See: Deion, etc. Nobody nationwide was interested in Morris or Sumrall.

Of course, part of why people want to talk about Kiffin is his track record of drama, so yeah, OK.

What specifically has Lane done to cause this circus?

It was created by others. If the same focus from media and fans were on those other guys it would appear the same way. Lane kept the team together and went 11-1.

I don’t think Lane did anything specifically to make this a circus.

I think it’s just the circumstances make it a bigger deal. It’s unprecedented to leave your current team that could possibly win a national title for a divisional semi-rival

Saban . . . doesn’t care about screwing ole miss over

Or maybe it's from personal experience after what happened when he didn't allow Kiffin to OC for him in the National Championship game which bama lost.

Kirby let Dan Lanning coach during the playoffs while he had already accepted the Oregon job.

I think it is a little different if you are an assistant coach moving up.
