are they in the playoffs automatically?

Duke doesn’t matter. As long as Texas Tech beats BYU the result of our game doesn’t matter

No. Not necessarily. If the g4 winner is ranked ahead Duke, the Acc could get left out of Miami doesn't get in.

Not necessarily. Could be left out for Tulane or JMU.

If Duke wins then 2 G5 teams make the playoffs. The AAC champ and James Madison

I'm just appalled that a team with 5 losses can get in. Thats a travesty to the game!

Maybe. I could see them jumping Miami over us if we lose. That would sort of clear the Notre Dame vs Miami backlash for the committee.
We really needed for ANYONE to lose the last couple of weeks to be in with an AU victory - OM, Oregon, Oklahoma, Notre Dame. Some came close but it just didn’t happen.

If Duke wins ACC is likely out

Here's a quick look at how the CFP automatic qualifiers work:
There are five automatic qualifiers — the five conference champions ranked highest by the CFP selection committee get in automatically
NEW IN 2025 — The four highest-ranked champions no longer get byes into the quarterfinals automatically.

I don't see that happening. Punishing a team for playing an extra game , while Miami sits at home would set a bad precedent. BYU is a bit worrying tho, but I don't think they can beat Texas Tech.

Miami jumping both BYU and Bama as conference champion runner ups is highly unlikely. ESPN has us at 90%

They lost to Tulane, so they should be ranked behind Tulane in that hypothetical. I would rank them behind JMU too, but I think there is too much money involved for the committee to actually do that.

We just need to beat UGA, a Texas Tech win would also help.

I think Tech is going to work BYU.

I feel like these numbers are made up. There’s only been 1 12 team playoff, so what are the percentages even based on?
Isn’t all that needs to happen is BYU upset Texas Tech and we lose to UGA?
The reality is Notre Dame’s ranking is ridiculous, but we’ll see if the committee actually drops them.

Need Tech to beat BYU. Think the 90% assumes Tech is a heavy favorite

Conventional wisdom says it is hard to beat someone twice in the same season.
Let’s hope that is not the case next weekend.
