If tweet fails to load, click here. Someone just needs to convince the Waltons that Saban brought in $50m to the Tuscaloosa area during the winning seasons.
I’m sure they could just look in the books and see how much more is spent in an area when the teams are winning.

The effect was more than that for Bama. Local economic effects were estimated at $20-25 million increase PER GAME. That's not counting business growth.
Also, university enrollment increased from 25k to 40k with the largest increase coming among out-of-state students (higher tuition). Something like an additional $200 million per year with the added OOS enrollment.

The Waltons don't care. Look. We aren't getting a fart in a hurricane from them until we prove we are worth the investment. They are looking at "Yeah, Petrino has won 0 games and made himself a laughingstock, but we should make him our full time coach." They aren't even going to bother to comb through the couch cushions for spilled change.
If we start winning they'll buy in. Until we do they won't.
That simple. That easy.

As mentioned previously, the Walton Family never gave a crap about athletics - and now since the Chancellor search in 2022 - they are pretty much done with UA as a whole.

Yes but them donating $20m to the university would have about 8x returns for the area, on something they could probably write off. Hell by doing that they could back door a tax to improve their stupid bike/gRape trails that are full of homeless meth heads.

The Waltons family has over $400 billion net worth. It would be nice if they invested in buildings like a renovation of bud walton and replacement of barnhill if NIL isn’t their thing, buildings are art
and can named after them

How many of them even went to the UofA? They do'n't have the ties people think they do. They'd rather bike than go to football games.

You mention Bobby more than any pro-Petrino poster and it's always to shite on him. Let the hate go dude! You'll live longer.

This premise seems wrong when you consider they bought the Broncos, at a record setting price, after like 5-6 losing seasons in a row. It's more likely that they just haven't cared about Razorback football, in a while, period. Nothing to do with winning or losing.

I'm fairness owning an NFL team is an elite of all elite flexes. There's only 32 in the world and it's guaranteed to make money hand over fist. A college program isn't even close to an equal comparison.

Oh, I don't disagree. My main point, not well given, is that the Hogs winning and/or losing has nothing to do with why the Waltons don't support athletics as much as they could.

It annoys me that every other post on here talks about how great Petrino is now when we turn the ball over more than anyone else at the FBS level. "Our offense is great but for the turnovers" is a lot like saying "The surgery went fine other than the patient dying."
If some of y'all are going to gas on about how he should be coach for life I'm allowed to gas on about how he got his last two HCs fired and hasn't won diddly squat here as interim coach. Turn about, as they say, is fair play.

Loved that Frank called him out. Hopefully it strikes a cord. Also shocked how much he's helped. I figured the car business hasn't been great of late.

I doubt a used car man / steakhouse guy running his head on FM radio is going to move a Forbes top 10er.

agreed, but it may let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, as to how little the waltons actually aid, help, our state. They have been excellent at killing mom and pop businesses here... what else?

I’m about to get physically ill watching us play football. It’s disgusting how bad we are.
