There is no such thing as the old BCS anymore. What you're actually looking at is someone trying to recreated it as they can. The formulas actually used for the BCS no longer exist.
Just because someone throws the label on it doesn't mean it's what it actually is.
And that might not even be a terrible thing, because the majority of the BCS computers and methods are absolutely fricking terrible trash. They weren't picked because they were the best possible formulas, they were picked because they were basically the only formulas.
These days, there are much better metrics.

Isn't it pretty much SEC championship or bust for Alabama making the playoffs regardless of whether they're currently 9th or 10th? So I don't really understand the obsession with Alabama's current ranking. IIRC they're automatically in the SEC title game with a win over Auburn. They're not making the playoffs with a loss to Auburn or possibly not even a loss in the SEC title game.
And maybe they shouldn't have lost to this godawful Florida State team. They also beat a good collection of teams, but it's hard to be very impressed by the performances against Missouri, South Carolina and even LSU.

Yeah man that computer is biased, it has loss to 5-6 FSU turned up waaay too high.

BCS was the best system ever created. It was entertaining. Instead of expanding it, the trashed it.

You should have seen the BCS formula this time last season....

Yea if 10-2 regular season with our schedule doesn’t get a 12 team playoff berth then burn the whole thing down.

Well, if you think that FPI would be a better metric, has ND as 3 point favorites over Alabama on a neutral field.

Anyway, there a few flaws with claiming this as the BCS formula
1. The way the computer polls were used changed over time. Computer polls and human polls were given equal weight through 2000, and then the human polls were given 2/3 weight starting in 2001.
And then, starting in 2002, margin of victory was eliminated from the BCS formula.
2. The AP poll stopped being used in the BCS after 2004. It was replaced by the newly created Harris Poll. Since the Harris poll was only created for the BCS in the first place, the Harris Poll dissolved when the BCS dissolved. Since the Harris poll no longer exists, it obviously can’t be used for these mock rankings.
So basically what’s provided here is the BCS ratings for only the 2002-2004 seasons. Those were the only 3 years where the formula was 1/3rd the AP Poll, 1/3rd the Coaches poll, and 1/3rd math formulas that do not include margins of victory,

FPI is a power rating rather than a season ranking.
What you'd want to quote is it's SoR under the resume tab. It has Alabama #9 and Notre Dame #12.
Not a huge fan of FPI, but other SoR metrics are basically the same. Both have 2 losses while Alabama has played a much tougher schedule.

2 losses
But one is to FSU
Yes, and wins over teams like Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Vandy, etc.
Now do Notre Dame, I'll wait.

If yall want to defend ND playing a weak arse schedule where their best win was an unranked USC because you think it irks Bama fans then have at it. Bama still has to beat Auburn regardless.
Just dont cry when your team is 10-2 after playing 9 SEC games and 10-2 ND gets the better bid after beating 10 cream puffs

You do realize the CFP had them in that order too last week right?
The only difference between BCS and CFP has been Texas Tech being at #7 behind Oregon & Ole Miss.

So it would be OSU vs UGA for the championship. I see those as the 2 best teams….playoffs is useless and just for ratings
