This seems to suggest that Bama will win the IB and lose the SECCG? If so, I don't think Bama gets in the CFP.

That's the way I read it too but we'll see if they stick to not penalizing a team losing the conference championship or not

What the Committee did/said last year is irrelevant because they have some new members. They've already said this year that the CCG is just another data point to consider when comparing teams.

So, essentially, they won't excuse a third loss just because it happens in a CCG.

Notre Dame plays lowly Stanford who is 4-7 and OU plays LSU 7-4. No way ND jumps us if we both win out. Especially without ND having a CCG

They should. Losing an extra game to a top-five SEC team (top ten if they play Ole Miss) won’t be held against them.

Oh? And how many spots did Bama drop after losing to OU?

I think SMU will win the ACC. N Texas might beat Tulane to get the group of 5 spot.

I have some bad news for you, Scotts, Notre Dame already jumped OU after playing 3-7 Syracuse while the Sooners were beating 7-3 MU.

I know, you'd think USC losing to Oregon would have at least maintained the status quo but no, the CFP guys swapped 8 for 9 at least for this week.

Numerically impossible for OM to play anyone other than UGA in SECCG.

I think the committee would try to avoid conference matchups in the opening round.

are you from the future?
While ND "looks" better, they can't ignore the huge discrepancy in win quality between the two schools. And the losses are comparable. If that mattered, ND would have been ahead already last week.

probably, but the only round 1 game that's SEC vs SEC is Bama vs Ole Miss who didn't play each other in the regular season so that could be a possible reason

Bama vs Texas A&M in the Quarterfinals after meeting in the SECCG seems odd but it's happened before

what do you mean "stick to"? Teams have never not been penalized for losing.

If bama is in that 7-10 range in the rankings, then lose the SECCG, they'd be a 3 loss team with no hardware. They would, and should, definitely be penalized in that case.

Does the higher seeded team not get to pick Bowl locations?

Could not imagine UGA choosing Fiesta over Peach

ETA: 11 SEC games in one year for Bama with that layout... yay! IF they manage to get through that, I can't imagine the Ducks beating them. Battle tested in a much tougher conference. Just hopefully not worn out.
