Texas averages 3.7 yards per carry versus Aggies averaging nearly six.

I think this needs more attention.

Let’s give it more attention. Give us some stats on what the run defenses they have faced and their own run defense.

Yes, our running game sucks. Expect us to pass a lot.
I think our run d is statistically pretty decent, you would be better served testing our corner opposite manny

You have a team or two you want to mention?

Yes. Sark has had to manufacture yards via a quick passing game to take the heat off Arch. Lots of WR screens and the like.
Then he tries to bust one over the top with the fake screen and send the blocker deep.
He was reaching into his bag of tricks against Arkansas. Elko will have to study and take notes to get the defense focused on all the variations.

Texas is going to be the best SEC team we faced all year.

At home and the team still believes a win puts them in the playoff (I don't nor do I think we deserve it).
Texas can win, but the Ags are a better team. Next year is the year you probably destroy us at home. Sark is probably coming back.

Of course it’s a dangerous situation. I sure as hell wouldn’t punt to the guy responsible for 2 Longhorn victories this season.
And also, I wouldn’t put any stock into next year.

Anything can happen, especially when it’s a rivalry game. What the op posted is short sighted.

Yeah we will try that swing pass. Wouldn’t be shocked to see 1st play the fake to wing and over the top to Moore or emmet.
Arch has improved since all eyes were on him and he had the yips but if you can drop 7 you should be fine, don’t need to keep a loaded box and just make sure the b and c gaps are covered since we like to run stretch. Unlikely we do anything in the a gap.

And the Aggie defense allowed 200+ rushing yards to the Roadrunners and the Razorbacks.

What's the average defensive rating each has faced?
Posted on 11/24/25 at 9:16 am to AGGIES
No. I’d like to see some stats and have a discussion

I think we were averaging worse than that last season before we ran for 240 on yall in CS. Venables and Elko can’t help but play reckless in the front 7, it’ll get you in trouble against outside zone and stretch plays if you do all that stunting.

3.7 is a horrendous for a “contender”, particularly given they’ve played no decent team in conference and are allowing 4.2 ypc
The one constant historically for championship teams is having a run D that allows under 3 ypc. 2019 LSU is one of the few exceptions

Arch has improved over the course of the season, no doubt. And Mosley has really boosted the passing attack.
To the OP point, gameplan still should be to stuff the run first, and to pressure Arch off his spot. Hopefully with just 4 pass rushers. Linebackers have to clean up the RB screens and quick TE passes.
I know Arch can scramble and is a tough runner, but I think Texas fans would agree you don’t want to see him taking too many hits.
Make him throw 50/50 balls that have a chance to get intercepted.

A&M run defense has been prone to some big plays, but has also shown to really tighten up when needed.
Stuffed Notre Dame on some crucial short yardage situations. Stuffed Missouri and their running game pretty well. Stuffed South Carolina the entire second half when all they needed to do was run the clock.
So those things also matter.

Also UTSA's RB is one of the better ones in the country
