do real people use the term "explosives"?

like if your friend is in the other room and comes back and asks what is happening...do you say....they are just creating so many explosives, we can't keep up. what's wrong with big plays

You might argue that it’s useful for communicating a certain kind of big play. 2 yards on 4th and 1 is a big play, but not an explosive.
