After barely sliding into the playoffs last year, and losing in embarrassing fashion, he'll miss the playoffs entirely this year.

He hasn't sniffed an SEC title.
He's never beaten Georgia.
He's been there for 5 seasons.

The program isn't trending up - it's stagnating.

When will Tennessee fans demand some real results?

Or maybe he just reached the Tennessee program’s ceiling.

If he loses to Florida or Vanderbilt I think it starts to get a little warm

If he has a bad year like Butch Jones’ final season where he loses the team and fans, then maybe. But they’d be foolish to let him go after how bad Tennessee was for more than a decade.

He already is.....If he don't win tonight I think he's got 1 foot out the door. Our defense looks like a bunch of girls at times. Clock management has been horrible. His team is 7-3...he's playing a 3-7 team. If he loses tonight.....next year will be his last!

I think Heupel's good for a long time there especially after that long arse losing streak.

That being said.....He can possibly be a very good coach, but has to surround himself with better coaches.

He's beaten Alabama last 2 out of 3!

Yeah... I agree -- Hoping he gets a contract extension for 5 years and a raise.

Is beating Bama really a great measure of success?

He's not very good. He's an Obese Butch Jones basically.

He's nowhere near a hot seat. If he wins tonight (most likely in my depressed opinion) he will officially shrugged the UF monkey of Tennessee's back (it would mean 3 of the last 4). He's pretty much even with Alabama.

Other than UGA, he's brought Tennessee back quite a ways.

Two squeakers vs three blowout's vs Bama. OP is right. He's in year five and done very little in a day and age you better win now.

Sure, you WANT him to be gone, but isn't going anywhere unless he wants to.

Those are just the facts.

10-2 and lost to the national champs.
Likely 9-3 this year in a throw away year
Averaging 9-10 wins a season.

Why would he be on the hot seat now?

Is this the Alabama inbred poster?

You seem very adamant about it.

I certainly hope he goes somewhere else. He seems to have our number.

But with the base he has built in Knoxville, they would be able to get a top tier coach were he to leave. It's not 2015 anymore and they wouldn't have to search the bargain bins for the up and comers.

I never seen so many people worried about Tennessee. Better be worrying about your own teams. Never know when you might be down there with Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi state in South Carolina. I’ve been watching SEC football for 50 years. All teams go up and down.

In 2022 and 2024 he was one game out of being in the SEC championship? Id say that counts as “sniffing” Atlanta. But if he loses again to florida then there needs to be a convo. He lost to a OSU team last year that killed everybody in their playoff run
