Ole Miss knows they are going to constantly go through this nonsense with Kiffin. So, Ole Miss is making an offer to drive up the price and play into LSU's hysteria just to get LSU to overspend on a coach they will fire and be on the hook for another crazy buyout.

This is some Sun Tzu/von Clausewitz-level stuff.

Lane needs to go where he can troll aggy annually and I don't want him at Texas so it is LSU or bust. If ole miss can get them to massively overpay that is a bonus.

No matter what he will be the highest paid coach. Think about that. Last time I checked your coach has won National Titles. As well as SEC titles.

Everyone seems to forget money being paid to players coincides with his success. Not to mention our schedule. But he really isn’t doing it for more money. But the minute his contract is announced Kirby needs to go to his AD. He should be paid the highest in football. And Georgia has cash to burn.

It’s much better than you think.

Ive gained respect for Ole Miss from this circus. Takes balls to tell the best coach you've had in 50 years to put up or shut up in the middle of a playoff run

I'm wondering if moving forward coaches' contracts will include guarantees on NIL funding. If I'm a top coach, a buttload of salary is nice, but w/o NIL, it doesn't matter how good a coach you are.

I think that's the beauty of the logic.

They're neutralizing LSU's advantages by playing on LSU's weaknesses.

What would actually be a good strategy here is Ole Miss and Lane have actually agreed on a deal and the players know. But they’re delaying, trolling, hemming and hawwing, to frick with both LSU and Florida. It hurts those team’s search, hurts their recruiting and keeps Ole Miss in the news. Why else would the Ole Miss AD release a statement like this? It looks ridiculously otherwise…
