Are you guys still believing a 3rd loss in the sec championship game won’t harm our chances getting in the playoffs?
Like I said, we are going to have to win out to make it….lowlifes even have notre dame ranked higher!

Yeah I do believe that. Every prediction on earth has us in at 3 losses one being in the SECCG.

There are complications, I think TT losing and maybe Michigan beating OSU.

OSU and IU are in I think regardless given there schedules. I love to see OSU just lose 3 games in a row but not going to be that lucky.

The committee is tipping their hand already. If BYU wins the Big 12 or Georgia Tech wins the ACC with only 2 losses they are going to leave Alabama out unless they win the SEC.

It appears that it might based on what the Chairman just said. Instead of saying a team won’t be penalized for losing a conference championship game, he said it’s another data point they’d use to evaluate a team:

CFP selection committee chairman Hunter Yurachek to ESPN on a team losing a conference championship game: "The data point of a conference championship game will be just like it is in the past. It is another data point. For most teams, a 13th data point that will be used to compare them to other teams in the ranking."

If byu beats Texas tech and we don’t win the sec title we’re probably boned. So yeah we better plan to win out. I know tech likely still wins that but it’s not impossible

I can’t believe these are actual quotes…

quote:

CFP chairman Hunter Yurachek on a conference call, in part explaining Bama vs. ND: "Florida State was up in that game 24-7 and they held Alabama to less than 100 yards rushing in that. Really, that was a sign of some of the struggles Alabama was going to have rushing the ball."

quote:

Yurachek, continued on Alabama: "You go back and look at Alabama’s game at South Carolina where they scored two touchdowns late to win that game. The next game against LSU where they won both of those but didn’t rush the ball for 100 yards. Again, against Oklahoma, was not able to move the ball on the ground."

I had no idea our lack of a running game had such a profound impact on the Committee!

What happens if Tech beats Georgia?

Do they move behind ND and Alabama? (Head to head)

They should but I wouldn’t count on it. Well, actually, neither team (Bama or Geo) should be behind ND

Obviously, the best path to the Playoff and the one I hope we are on, is to win out. But there is still a path if Alabama loses the SECCG and it looks like this:

If everyone ahead of us wins out the regular season and we lose a competitive game to A&M

1. Ohio State (13-0)
2. Texas A&M (13-0)
3. Georgia (11-1)
4. Indiana (12-1)
5. Texas Tech (12-1)
6. Ole Miss (11-1)
7. Oregon (11-1)
8. Oklahoma (10-2)
9. Notre Dame (10-2)
10. Georgia Tech (11-2)
11. Alabama (10-3)
12. Tulane (10-2)

Just outside will be:

BYU and Utah - Behind Alabama already. Would be their CG loser.

Miami - Already behind us, no ranked opponents left, and almost 0% chance of making their conference champ game.

Vanderbilt - We beat them head to head

Michigan and USC - Three losses, not a chance.
____________________________________________

Here are the only scenarios that could possibly knock a 3-loss Bama (with the third loss being in the SECCG) out:

Michigan beating Ohio State would make me nervous because at the end of the year, you would have a 10-2 team that beat the likely Big 10 Champ just sitting there, versus a 10-3 Alabama, who had to play an extra game.

USC beating Oregon would cause some chaos and put us in a 3-way battle between two 10-2 teams, and a 10-3 Alabama that, again, had to play an extra game.

Texas Tech losing in the Big 12 CG. Whoever they lost to would be in and Texas Tech would also likely be an at-large. That's where Notre Dame being ahead of us stinks, because it would likely come down to us against them, and we had to play an extra game.

It’s hard to see any of those teams losing. But it would be hilarious to see Ryan Day lose to Michigan for a fifth straight season. Columbus, Ohio might burn if that happens.

Greg Sankey is such a cuckold.

Let’s move to a harder schedule despite the committee proving year after year schedule doesn’t matter. Losses matter more than wins. Week 10 matters more than week 4.

Until there is a defined criteria, the committee will serve their own interests on a yearly basis. I mean this guy brought up rushing yards tonight.

That “terrible” FSU loss, they’re 7th in the country in yards per game. We’ve played 4 teams in the top 25 in the country in yards per game, yet rank 14th in total defense.

But we don’t run the ball well enough to be ranked ahead of Notre Dame. This sport has just turned into a scripted TV show curated for ratings. It’s a fricking joke
